Great beginner drone... Just be careful, because there is no obstacle avoidance.

You attach your phone to it for all controls and to see the live feed and recording. Don't think you can fly it without attaching a phone/tablet

TACO. The administration threatened to block them and then decided at the last minute to completely reverse course and not do anything at all.

Is the camera good enough quality to use professionally, like for shooting real estate?

Kind of, only if you're part 107 and you know how to fly

Are there any prop guards that can be purchased for this model?
Yes. I got mine from DJI but you can find cheaper knockoffs. This is what I bought: https://a.co/d/2rVSRut

No. While it's true that the Commerce Department ended its efforts to restrict DJI and other drones from import in Jan. 2026, it only did so because it would be redundant in the wake of the FCC actions. The Commerce Department is a separate entity from the FCC, and its proposed restrictions were never put in place to begin with. Some reports on the Commerce Department's decision have misleading headlines that could make you think the government did an about-face, so I don't blame you for being confused.😉

DJI drones previously approved by the FCC are still legal. New models that require FCC license will not be approved, so are effectively banned. Purchasing older models is allowed until stock runs out. New shipments of older models experience customs delays and are sporadic.

TACO runs both FCC and the Commerce department.

i would buy this but dji really screwed me years ago when i bought my phantom 4 drone. came with a broken lens and they refused repair, then the remote stopped working(a known issue) and they also refused that repair. i vowed to never buy dji again.

DJI was to be added to the FCC's Covered List (failing a satisfactory risk assessment) per the FY25 NDAA, which was passed in 2024. For those who can't keep score at home, the president in 2024 was (theoretically) Joe Biden.

Just to clarify what is essential said here (mostly correct), new foreign-made drone models will require FCC certification and if you don't get it (which you won't) then you cannot legally sell that drone model in the US and you cannot legally fly that drone model in the US. As long as the model has FCC certification, it is legal to sell and fly in the US regardless if it's a new model or an old model. Purchasing models that have FCC certification is allowed forever regardless of when the stock runs out or not, you can get one from anywhere in the world and it's legal; old stock, new stock....doesn't matter.

What matter is if you are able to get it into the country or not and we all know it is going to get tougher and tougher to get a drone thru customs over the years and months and weeks ahead, not because they are banned but because customs is incompetent. Remember there is no such thing as "when we are out of stock, no new shipments are allowed." Until the government changes its mind, FCC certified drones are ok forever and without FCC certification, it's never allowed under most any circumstances.

That didn't come from DJI, it came from Amazon. But yes, Amazon got it from DJI who probably actually made it.

You've been able to fly DJI drones without a phone until this point, it would be surprising if you couldn't do controller only now. No live view though obviously.

Doesn't phone control limit distance? How far can it go without losing contact?
NVM, should've looked more closely before posting...

I haven't taken it as far as it'll go, but impressed with how far I took.
