Just to clarify what is essential said here (mostly correct), new foreign-made drone models will require FCC certification and if you don't get it (which you won't) then you cannot legally sell that drone model in the US and you cannot legally fly that drone model in the US. As long as the model has FCC certification, it is legal to sell and fly in the US regardless if it's a new model or an old model. Purchasing models that have FCC certification is allowed forever regardless of when the stock runs out or not, you can get one from anywhere in the world and it's legal; old stock, new stock....doesn't matter.
What matter is if you are able to get it into the country or not and we all know it is going to get tougher and tougher to get a drone thru customs over the years and months and weeks ahead, not because they are banned but because customs is incompetent. Remember there is no such thing as "when we are out of stock, no new shipments are allowed." Until the government changes its mind, FCC certified drones are ok forever and without FCC certification, it's never allowed under most any circumstances.
Especially when the app (at least in the case of android) needs to be side loaded.
