Seems like a pretty great deal. It's been a while since I've kept a pulse on price of entry level sim rigs, but this definitely would be a good starter. To me personally it feels a little more "premium toy grade" but still works well.

Can I use this with a driving sim for my kid to practice for their driver's license?

Don't listen to the other guy. There is a reason why pilots practice on sims too. Use it in conjunction to real drives and it will help. Doing it in VR is ideal but watch him drive. It's easy to develop bad habits. Correct wrong habits as it happens and your kid will be a better driver in no time.

Yeah like the other guy said, these Sims are and frankly have been for some time good enough to teach real world skills. Pedal control is probably the best thing your kid can learn from it and as long as they're not completely out of touch with reality, they'll know that IRL you can't just slam on the gas or brakes every time you want to anyway, so it'll give them better foot/leg muscle control

Are you saying Battlefield players aren't elite soldiers? I take offense to that, sir.

Solid price. Direct drive is a massive upgrade if you want feedback and for it to not feel like a toy.

How is this compared to the Logitech G923 that often goes on sale, that people seem to think is good for the price too?

Sorry I don't know. I've only used the g29 but I have a fanatec csl dd because the g29 felt so mushy to use the one time I tried it.

Compared to the g29, which is a fairer entry level to entry level comparison, YouTube reviews say the force feedback is at least as good if not better, but the pedals suck and the build is plasticky. But at this price it is way cheaper.

What driving sims do you recommend. Is there anything that simulates real traffic in a city environment?

Depends on where you live, but these days I'd suggest GTA5, if he's still in diapers plan on GTA VI
