I see this suggestion/implication all the time on SD, but I never see anyone linking to peer-reviewed evidence that actually describes how skin contact with polyester is bad for you. I've also been unable to find it while doing a cursory Google search.

I play club sports and do road biking, so I've worn a lot of polyester-based fabrics (underwear, jerseys, biking shorts, etc.) for over a decade, and I haven't noticed any negative effects on my junk or anywhere else other than some minor armpit irritation from the first generation of UnderArmour tech fabric.

Everyone is obviously free to have their personal preferences, but framing this as a health issue without proving details isn't super helpful.

Been wearing these for 15+ years. I love them! I prefer the 9" but at least these aren't the mesh ones. Thanks, OP!

In for one underwear data breach! What timing lol! I just got my notification from haveIbeenpwned.com that they were breached in November with 72M records supposedly leaked...

15 years of polyester on your junk is not good man, i'd do some research into it!!

Appreciate it. Thanks to that specificity, I can happily continue wearing my current underwear since I had a vasectomy about a decade ago and no hormonal changes were observed in the study. Since a great many people use some form of birth control, this might actually be a feature rather than a bug for anyone who isn't actively trying to have a child.

If that's the study from the guy who put underwear on dogs-nobody takes that paper seriously.

The guy wrote a bunch of papers basically suggesting that polymer clothing causes infertility because of static electricity from rubbing on the balls. I'm pretty sure he won an ignoble for his efforts. Its a lot of nonsense. Nobody cited it and nobody replicates this guys work for a reason.

Underwear makes your balls hot which reduces sperm production. It's not rocket science. If you're so infertile that some underwear makes it so your wife leaves from not being able to give her a kid, your best bet is going commando, not wearing cotton.

The issue is people don't do their own research.
It's now very easy to get authentic report and study.
As per study the constant polyester surrounding your crotch area reduce the sperm count, cause PME , impotence and many other issues. Some study suggested a man wouldn't able to produce with excessive exposure.
The more disturbing part was, these studies were done in 80s and 90s but, big greedy companies who started selling polyester replacing cotton for profit, wouldn't allow these studies to come out.
Plus our FDA the most pathetic organization for legally allowing every kind of poison into market didn't publish any of these studies.
I know people will down vote but they won't do the research.

These boxers irritate me and make me sweaty. Sad bc they felt great but irritate my skin. The polyester reality is why i have to toss twenty UA polyester boxers after a year of actively A/B testing them. Buyer beware.
