The TX RZ30 is a strong value 9 channel AVR for Atmos setups, especially if you want Dirac room correction and dual independent sub outs. It is repeatedly framed as a better fit than pricier Denon and Yamaha alternatives when you do not need more than 9 channels, and the included calibration is praised for improving sound after setup. The main cautions are extra Dirac costs for Bass Control, a learning curve, and recurring concern about Onkyo HDMI reliability and shipping or warranty hassles. A solid pick for a modern 5.1.4 or 5.2.4 system if those tradeoffs fit.

I'm going to see if BB will price match today. I can confirm dealing with adorama customer service is a nightmare.
I tried yesterday and they said no 😮 💨

Online.
Online won't price match, because adorama is not on their list of places for price matching. Only the store will, but it is up to them if they do. They have the flexibility to do it, but it's up to the store if they do. I was able to get the price match 2 weeks ago.

Thanks. But the store doesn't carry the RZ30, right? thats the case around here. They only carry RZ70. Only shipped/sold by Electronics Expo or other marketplace sellers, not Best Buy.

It might be select stores have them on display or have them in stock. I just looked and online is being sold and shipped by Best Buy. The store I went to 2 weeks ago had only a display model and they did price matched to adorama, but they had to ship it to me which arrived the next day. You will have to look online and see if a local store near you has one on display or in stock. The one I went to buy mine now has one in stock.

Thanks for the details. Unfortunately, there is only one store that has this that is about 50m out and they don't price match with the coupon code. Bummer...

My RZ70 has been replaced once thus far. Made it about 8 months and completely lost one HDMI port. My first Onkyo failure ever, and it was a real fight to get it replaced! But I did end up with two RZ70's once all was said and done, so I guess it was worth the battle? Normally I shy away from extended warranties, but in this case I would highly recommend getting yourself that added insurance.

Would this be a nice upgrade to a Denon AVR-x1700h?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am a bit concerned since this isn't the old Onkyo (which to be fair also had some HDMI reliability problems).
