Thanks. Heat gun is $49 there. Which is more useful?

I purchased this 2 years ago for the same price. I use solder wire connectors quite a bit and use this more than I do my heat gun.
Would this be acceptable for circuit board repair?

No. You need something that lets you control airflow speed and temperature.

Depends on your usage. I love this mini for heat shrink and heat seal terminals. I use it all the time. It gets into tight spaces and doesn't melt everything around it.

If you want something to strip paint or thaw your frozen plumbing pipes, get the larger heat gun. Scalpel vs machete.

I would assume this is also usable for 3D printing. Heating up prints allows you to bend them and manipulate them if you need to.

Not sure what you are saying. SD shows it at this same price as the previous low. Are you saying that it has been cheaper at some point?
That was my mistake. I searched "Ryobi Heat Pen" and $D decided to throw in a glue pen from a few years ago for $40. I didn't catch that. I should know by now that $D search results aren't the best :/

I have both, neither puts out much heat, the pen version puts out even less heat but in a more concentrated area. Both are okay for very small jobs that do not require the power of a plug-in heat gun like stripping paint. I use the pen version most of the time especially when I am using heat shrink tubing or terminals, it is slower, but easier to manipulate since the weight of the battery is not on the head.

For heatshrink?
small heat shrink tubes with solder in the middle. They are great for connecting wires that will be outdoors.

Ahh, I thought maybe you meant that it had been cheaper but for SD missed it (or wasn't displaying that).
And yeah, the search engine seems to be really dumb sometimes.

For those that use a heat gun for heat shrink... I have used a mini torch for years(https://www.amazon.com/Sondiko-Bu...B08Y5M5V3X)... very light and easy to manuver, very easy to only head an extremely small area (and not things you don't mean to heat), and only takes a couple of seconds to fully shrink the tube. It is also handy for loosening smaller siezed fasteners that are in tough to get to places so you can't use a full sized torch. A mini torch is way cheaper, one charge of butane lasts forever, and you can use the same torch to make creme brulee, melt a cheese topping without having to reheat the rest of the dish, or putting a bit of char on bbq/steak Smilie.

Using this to remove badges, pin striping, stickers, etc., or for heating 3D models do sound like good use cases though!.

Yes, should do the job. Use low setting as the softening temperature of filaments is much lower than melting temp.

Have this - dont remember what I paid - my use cases are heatshrink or removing stickers / adhesive. I would not recommend this for heavy-duty heat gun applications.

I've been here 18 years, but I've never seen SD referred to by a user with the $ (other than in their logo). Reps for that (but it still just looks wrong). Wink

It is Cordless but still attaches to the base with a cord?
The point is you don't need to look for power outlet.
