I just have to put this review from Amazon here, you decide for yourself:

source = https://a.co/d/0930fXgk

So, to summarize the reasons why this tape dispenser is the worst of its kind:

• The blade fails to penetrate the tape, causing excess tape to come out and get tangled.
• The failure of the blade invites serious injury as you try to find workarounds to get the dispenser to cut.
• The tape sticks to the metal tab that keeps the tape pressed against the roller, causing it to jam.
• The tape sticks to the flat area where the handle meets the dispenser body, again causing it to jam.

Looking at the 130 1-star reviews (as of April 18, 2022), which account for NEARLY A THIRD OF ALL REVIEWS, I can see that I am far from alone in my assessment of this ill-conceived weapon of war. I can also see that the issues are not a new development but in fact date back at least SIX YEARS. So, not only is this thing horrible, but it's been horrible for a long time, and apparently no effort has been made to change that.

Scotch/3M, if you're listening, read the room. Fix this abomination before someone gets seriously injured.

Yes, it's that bad.

Really, don't buy this tape dispenser. It's horrible and dangerous.

Thanks for the honesty. Some of these are amazing and some are as horrible as you say. But they all look the same 🫠 so thank you!

Uline tape guns can sell for the same price on ebay minus S&H, and are a much better dispenser

I own this. It's not great, nor even good, but does get the job done. The Duck brand works well if you want an alternative that costs more and works well.

I've been waiting for my 3M to break so I can replace it. I've been waiting 15 years...

I agree with you. While some may say they don't use it enough to justify spending $15 on one, it will be the last one you need. And these Scotch and Duck dispensers are more trouble than they're worth. I've been using U Line dispensers for the past 15 years and rarely have I needed to replace one at my warehouse.

What I really need is quieter tape.
