i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.
I was denied in-store trade-in today because the trade-in phone is not in the system currently, but if I add the new line, then I will be approved. I refused to add the new line, so no trade-in for me.
Why would adding a new line make the phone appear in their trade-in system? That does not make sense. What phone is it?

Moto G 2025. I think adding a new line is different from upgrading an existing line. A new line is fresh and it doesn't have any device attached to it until you activate the device with it.

I do not know how to tag people but responding to you so you can see previous message about NY tax.
Thank you so much for the tag! Think I will get the s26 for about $212. Have a free phone line so no extra costs. Then will see if I can trade it in using IMEI1 on a friends spectrum account for an s26+. Starting with flip trade in July, they stopped giving tax refunds on the mail in trades. Seems wrong. Also, reduced trade in values happen every time as well. About a week into the store sales. Trading in a moto g stylus 2025 I got from metro for $30 so don't anticipate an issue with in store trade. Appreciate all the info.

The Moto G 5g 2025 is definitely on the trade-in list, you can see for yourself on the Spectrum mobile website. Sounds like they either lied to you or had not clue what they are doing. I would probably either try again (perhaps at a different store) or you can do it online. Although it sounds like people are starting to say there is an issue getting tax refunded when doing trade-in online.

That sucks about the tax no longer being refunded online, it should not make a difference if done online since the trade-in credit/promotion is part of the original order whether done in-store or online. Since the trade-in promotion is linked specifically to the device purchase/transaction (and is contingent on completion of that sale) it is a promotional discount and not a separate sales transaction. I have an online trade-in pending so might be worth opening a ticket with a consumer protection bureau if they will not refund it. I do think consumers actually have a case for class-action against Spectrum because it is in violation of tax law throughout most of the country.
And obviously I acknowledge that people are not going to individually take legal action against Spectrum over a relatively small amount but a lawyer (or State AG/consumer protection bureau) could potentially find it lucrative since this would affect many thousands of consumers/trade-ins and be a settlement/fine worth many millions.

Has anyone traded in one of the S26 phones and got the same phone again in store? If you did, what will happen to the credit on the phone? Do they send it right back to your card and will the store employee why you are trading in and getting the same phone again?

People have reported that trading in S26 for S26 (any of the models) will not give the $700 promotion. It use to work in previous years but seems will no longer be the case. If you do a trade-in in store the trade-in amount will be subtracted from your total.
I just ordered a trade-in Motorola G 5G 2025 online for S26 successfully, so who said 1 trade-in per line? This is my 2nd trade-in in the same existing line and I did get $705 Off offer too.

Did you do it online or with the sales rep over the phone? Trying to order the S26 ultra online for two days now and the website is terribly buggy and unreliable, kicking out random errors or at times just not letting me go through to the next screen. I've tried on both Safari and chrome and on different devices.
Don't want to go to the store and waste an hour, but it looks like this is the only way.

I did it online using Spectrum app and Chrome browser too. Clean history and clean cache and change to different phone.
I have not heard anybody here mention anything about getting more discount for opening more than 2 lines (in fact people seem to have difficulty even getting the 2 line discount). The promotion specifically says 2 lines so I do not think it would work on 4. You could try and report back but I am not seeing anything to suggest it works on more than 2 lines.
I went to store and found out that 400 off is for the first phone when you are opening 2 lines with 1 number ported in and new internet.
ABSOLUTELY HOT DEAL!!
Went to the spectrum store in southwest austin and traded in a 35 dollar moto g 2025 purchased from the walmart next door. The rep claimed you could not trade in a locked phone but I told him it was accepted by the online system and he tried it again and it worked. Was in and out in 30 mins. Total paid 650 for 256gb s26 ultra. Also have a free line of service with their internet plan that we're paying for. Super hot deal!!!

If you somehow manage to convince a store associate to use IMEI2, which I think will be tough, you can get a full $1105 trade in credit.
