Got this last time. If you have the batteries it works well. No idea how it would work for intense jobs but I use it for 3d print stuff and it works well.

Bought this for shrink butt connectors. Not very hot. Only works well with the higher quality shrink butt connectors and wire wrap.

So then, probably not hot enough for surface soldering? It does say 450 / 750 temp selection, which should be hot enough and then some.

What specifically are you doing with this related to 3d printing? I seen soldering irons and threaded inserts but not sure if you use it for a specific application or maybe it's something related to resin printers which I don't have

Seems pretty meh. Unless you absolutely need battery operation, there are better corded heat guns available for less.

The fact that you're even asking this question about a low end hobby product makes me question if you should even be soldering in the first place.

Heck, it's probably a step up from the butane torch lighter I normally use.

I'm guessing hes using it to clean up/smooth out the parts. I've been using a heat gun very carefully to remove the stringing on my prints (petg) and considering this instead.
