Induction is more efficient, only the cookware heats up since there's no traditional heating element so the surface stays cooler. It also has automatic shutoff when no pan or pot is detected for added safety, along with more precise temperature control. Only downside is that you need to have compatible cookware, something with a magnetic base. Find one with 7 to 8 inch heating area. As for brands; Nuwave, Duxtop or a more expensive cuisinart.
