Can confirm The newer versions (of same model) have added the ability to turn off the light.

Have had mine for 7 years. Works well. The only problem is the light on the top button. It is so bright it is likely visible from space. I put two layers of black electrical tape over mine, light is clearly visible through it, but it no longer confuses ships at sea. I have seen two others at Goodwill, both also had tape over the button. Not sure if they have tuned that down since I purchased.

the real question is how much was goodwill asking for. is it worth getting a used unit and buying new filters?

I have four of these for all the bedrooms and just got an air mega for the main living space.

These have been absolute tanks over the years. Just remember to get 3rd party filters as the OEM ones are ridiculously expensive. Plenty of ones out there on Amazon.

Just got one of these last week. I used some spray adhesive last night, and its sensor was able to detect the fumes and automatically crank up the fan to clear the air.


And yes, that light is the most egregious, excessively bright LED I've ever seen. But you can turn it off by holding the ionizer button for three seconds.
