When you activate this new phone purchase, there is an option to choose either port in a new number, or activate this phone for an existing number already serviced by TracFone. For the latter option, it disables my old SIM card and enables the number to run on this new phone + sim card combo, and adds an one whole year of service expiration date (e.g. from end of 2027 to end of 2028), in addition to the available credit units (minutes, SMS counts, data). And since I started to use this phone in early 2026, it will automatically unlock in early 2027.

Never swap sim from another phone. TracFone is very anal about attaching a SIM card to the phone it came in. You could lose service one day bc they consider SIM swap against their terms. To change phones, you need to activate a nEW BYOP SIM..

They rejected my TF as locked - but they do accept unlocked phones for BB gift cards.
Not sure why you're getting unlucky but BB accepts locked phones as well.
I traded in my Metro locked phones for GC without any problems before.

Maybe if I had a store nearby a rep would have accepted it but mailing it in is different. It's like trying to deal with TF support, you get different answers depending on who you talk to. 😀

Ah you tried mailing. Okay makes sense.
Yeah I always did it in store and the reps never complained or asked any question.

I had the same issue. I had to skip wifi and finish with basic phone setup, without internet connection. Once the phone was set up and sim activated, I then set up wifi in Settings, and the wifi started to work. Seems this phone is expecting SIM to be activated during setup. Not usual though.

I am skipping the wi-fi setup it goes to "Getting your phone ready" then pops up "couldn't connect to internet" and goes back to Wi-fi screen back. Have tried multiple times. Any direction ?
Edit: I had to remove the SIM and able to proceed that screen

Bought one today along with a case and screen protector for a family member to use on Lifeline.. Should get here tomorrow. I was told that any tracphone locked phone will work. I have noted the activation and wifi comments. Thanks!

EDIT: Activated with Safelink (Lifeline) using the SIM that came with the phone. All is working great!

This might help.

To test Android battery health, use third-party apps like AccuBattery for detailed analytics, or check built-in settings under Settings > Battery. Samsung users can use the Samsung Members app's diagnostics, while a hidden menu (#*#4636#*#*) provides basic info on some devices. A healthy battery typically shows high capacity percentage and low cycle counts.
My phone wouldn't even turn on without charging it. I installed AccuBattery as you said. It shows 0 cycles. Is this accurate? My phone has a lot of sticky goop on the back of it, I'd like to know why. Is it a replacement battery, or has this never been used, or is this app a scam?
