Still a pretty ridiculous price.. just last year we had sub $200 deals for the 4TB version here.

The price gouging is working out EXACTLY like the memory manufacturers want it to. They just throw end users a questionably priced bone like this every so often to make it look better than it is for when the AI bubble eventually crashes and burns.

This is a DRAM-less drive. Good for storage, not so much for a boot drive.

I bought two WD 20TB drives around 18 months ago (don't remember exactly when) from newegg. Each one came with a "Free" 1TB WD SN770. Granted, they're only 1TB, but they were literally giving them away.

You can probably find the old posts here somehow, but it just goes to show you how much we're being gouged today....

SSDs and HMB have come a long way, so your POV is quite out of date. Only really punishing workloads are going to show a meaningful difference. For >90% of the people looking for an SSD, they would never notice the difference between this drive and an SN850X with DRAM. I say that as someone with a a bunch of high end drives with DRAM (SN850X / 990 Pro / 9100 Pro).

$252 for 2 TB SSD is still very expensive.
They should knock down another $100 for it to be a good sale.
No way am I buying this over-priced SSD.
This is terrible scam.

Amazon currently selling this for $430, which is CRAZY! There was a time sometime before the Fall of 2025 that this was around $70 at Walmart, but that was before AI blew up and the price gouging took place.
