Ugh. I bought the drill on the last deal of the day and. Missed the impact. And JUST tossed the box for drill. I'd def buy into this. Upgraded my old 12v black and decker with this Dewalt driver and the thing is a powerful little beast for general home occasional diy stuff
I have the 12v 1/2" impact, 3/8" impact, 3/8" ratchet and 1/4" ratchet. The 1/2" impact is my go to for lug nuts and axel nuts. It definitely punches above its weight. This deal is tempting.
Dewalt has shown approximately no interest in releasing new tools for this platform in ages and frequently has to deny it's being discontinued entirely. That's significantly different from Milwaukee / Bosch that have lively 12v ecosystems.
I think it's just an uncompelling ecosystem to begin with but that's an opinion separate from worrying if the battery platform is going to be abandoned entirely

This 100%. With the 1.7ps battery and the atomic line of tools Dewalt released in the last few years... the size and weight difference isn't that great. I think DeWalt didnt sell as well when competing with the m12 line and just decided to make compact 20v tools (Atomic) and phase out the 12v over time.
The only tools worth getting in this line still are the 12v screwdriver and the 1/4 - 3/8 sealed head ratchet.
Everything else I would just stick to the 20v line or get into M12.
I think they will keep this line around for a while but its really not worth investing a ton of money into it with the limited offering and no plans to expand.
