Heard that they were releasing an updated model, so thought to check if the old ones were clearing out, found 3 units at a Lowes near me. Good luck!

Retails at $729, snagged it for $449 plus tax.

The Bosch-exclusive Axial-Glide offers wider cross-cuts, enhanced alignment and smooth glide for the life of the tool. The Bosch miter saw's 15 Amp motor delivers no-load speeds of 4,000 RPM for quick, accurate cuts in many materials. For added convenience and versatility, the saw is compatible with a variety of 12 In. blades and it has a clear lower guard to provide unobstructed cut-line visibility. The GCM12SD provides easy adjustments with upfront bevel and miter controls and detents at common angles. The saw's all-metal bevel lock lever and range selector are located up front to make bevel adjustments easy.

It's fantastic. I bought one used and it's been going strong for 3 years for me. The only major issue is that there's no laser or shadowline. I've read you can DIY a shadowline but I've never bothered. People complain about blade deflection but I've never had any issues. I think most of the people bringing it up have never used the saw.

I've been waiting for a good deal on the 10" version of this since I don't think I need the 12" and with 10" I can share blades with my table saw if needed. Are those silly reasons to get the 10" over the 12"? I also thought the 12" was a decent bit bigger and heavier than the 10", but I think the 12" is only 1lb heavier and 6.5" taller.

Yes, that's silly. You don't want to use the same blades for a table saw and miter saw. You want high hook angle teeth for the table saw to hold the material down to the table and low or negative hook angle teeth for the miter saw so the blade doesn't pull itself down into your cut. I think it would be a real rarity for me to share blades between them.

I own the DWS779 but I wish I bought this. The axial glide is a huge space saver depth wise. So if you're keeping it in your garage and space is a premium go for this. If you're wheeling out into the driveway or patio to make cuts the dewalt works just as well.

I initially bought a DWS780 (it's the 779 with a shadow line). The clearance required in the back was so much that I had to return it. I bought the Bosch instead and have it at a permanent spot on my workbench.

Only to realize that I really don't need it and can easily get by with a circular saw. And I have several perfect 90deg crosscut sleds for my table saw.
The Bosch is a joy to use. High quality. I have it on a rolling stand now.

I'd love to have this, but it wouldn't get used enough to justify the cost, even at this price.

I have the 10 inch version, and I love it. At this price, I probably would get the 12 inch.
