Sounds like you've been living under a rock. AI has skyrocketed prices of storage and RAM.

These are shuckable so thats a bonus. If you subtract the APC from the price youre looking at $15/tb (i think ideally you want $10-12/tb for shucked drives) which for this size is pretty good. Doubt youll be able to sell the battery backup for that much but not a bad thing to have on hand.
This is possible cmr. Please comment on your experience with it especially if you find it a SMR

I cannot wait for the AI gold rush to be over, and all the leftover new and used hard drives to hit the market when the supply chain reacts to the shock.
My thoughts exactly - data centers will need to retire all this hardware in a couple years, hopefully we get a windfall on the back end

In my world (where all my servers have 8TB or larger drives), 4TB is useless for server purposes. But good for computer backup with lots of history. Details about the BE600M1 UPS worth noting: It does have a USB data port for telling devices that the power has gone out. Excellent. Downside: It does Not have a mute button. Which would be annoying if you want to keep say networking gear working during extended power outages.

more specifically, mfgrs. shifted away from consumer storage and ram to commercial designs for AI. We saw the same thing during the ammo shortage when .22LR was unobtainable while mfgrs. shifted to gov contracts. Took a while for the market to catch up.
And the problem is, just like the 22LR ammo hoarding, the mfg's aren't going to expand their production for a (comparatively) short-term problem. No need to build extra factories for a demand that is going to drop off as quickly as it started. Not to mention, they get to price gouge during the sHorTaGe.

Says the UPS is only 330W. That's not enough to keep a PC on during a power outage is it?

That's not a problem, it's an opportunity. in the 22LR shortage, what did we see? overseas mfg. increases, importing increases, less efficient producers with excess capacity switching production.

I've been in SC for decades, the big guys may not expand, but the small and medium guys will as the premium profits attracts suppliers. It's classic demand-pull.

Speaking of 22LR....I'm still sitting on way too much myself. I wasn't really hoarding to hoard but just built a home range at the same time of the shortage and was also going through a 22LR 'tactical' gun kick. It was impossible to find the ammo to feed my new guns / increased consumption so I too fell victim to the same over buying kick but for completely different reasons than most who were prepping.

The page says "Items might ship and arrive on different dates." (under "This bundle includes") Hopefully your UPS is still on order / on the way.

You are corect! I see a delivery for the ups mid week.

I have a pi server with external usb drives. I want to try to protect the external USB drives on a ups with the cost of storage these days., so that was what I was looking for..

WM had 2 shipments to me today on two different WM trucks.. One was for a single bottle of Dawn from that deal posted yeaterday. Boy has the market place become competitive.. I thought hamerzon was crushing it with more than one delivery per day, but now I have seen WM with that same kind of speedy delivery.. Compition is good, but do we realy need more than one delivery per day?

BTW The drive was a NESN not the NE"WM" (Wally world) part #..

Not sure what is inside if you shuck it for use in a nas..

Same here. I have waaaaay too much. More than I could ever shoot in my lifetime. same with 7.62 and .223. Need to find a way to sell it off to someone that will use it. Along with all my reloading supplies I thought was going to be a new hobby but got bored with rather quickly.

This deal appears to be still active, I'm not certain how to flag it back active though (or if I even have permissions to do that LOL). I was just able to purchase the drive and UPS, scheduled for delivery in a couple days. Local pickup wasn't an option. The confirmation email I received itemized the price as $89.36 for the drive and $55.62 for the UPS. Considering the prices of SSD and HDD are currently so high, it's a decent cost per terabyte.

No. But it will keep it online long enough for a safe shutdown. That's the real reason to have a ups, unless you have a large one with plenty of battery backup. Personally, I modified 1500w unit to use an external pair of 12v deep cycle marine batteries several years ago. Will run all my network gear for a weekend if I shut down my larger server. Will swap those out to lithium when the lead acids die. Price of those are getting cheaper every day.
