Always amazes me on every Tracfone deal, posters expect for $40. to get a I-phone like device and unlimited service. Not all of us need a phone to be an umbilical cord. I have an A14 Tracfone now and love it. I can talk and text all I need and check emails with it. Usually around wi-fi plus I have better things to do than watch a movie or play video games on a 6" screen. Blessed that for <$5.00 a month I can function quite well. Of course, I can tell everybody worth telling everything I know worth telling in 5 minutes or less

I put one of these in each of my kids gloveboxes, in case they lose or destroy their regular phones, so they can still get a hold of me in an emergency.

Great deal for me. I have used Tracfone for many years with no problems. I'm different though. I'm not starring at a cellphone every minute that I'm awake. I buy one of these deals every couple years. I don't have to have the latest and greatest of everything in life.
This right here. I have one of the "MOTOG" phones, and they're in the same class as this one. I can buy one of these budget devices for $40-50, use it for two years, and once it starts to show some wear, replace it with another one that's on sale.

There isn't a thing I want to do that these basic devices cannot do.

Aren't these the ones that have the unremovable spyware?
That's what you call a "mobile phone". They all are like this. Why do you think you can't remove the battery from them anymore?

I cannot tell you how many Tracfone Moto phones I have had that got a bulged battery after a year or two and failed. At least 6.

Experience with 4 Samsung phones and never had any battery problem.
Aren't these disposable phones? After a year or two, drop another $40-50 and get another. I don't see what the confusion is about?

Let's be incredibly generous, and assume a "top tier" flagship phone will last you four years (I've NEVER had one last more than 36 months without developing an issue of some sort, but let's not dwell). The cheapest "I'-Phone costs $600, and that's in the budget line. Most flagship phones cost between $800-1200....or more. So let's say you spend $800.

Even if you bought one of these budget phones every six months for that same four year span... $50 x 2 per year x 4 years = $400. You're spending HALF the amount of flagship device....and that's with a pretty uncalled for six-month replacement schedule. And you have FOUR handhelds to your name instead of just one.

Realistically, you're replacing them every two years....that's $100 for the same four year period. An eighth of the cost. Or less.

Remember, these devices are intentionally engineered to fail after two years of daily use.

don't think anyone dumb enough to use tracfone as a main line.
That's talking from a point of privilege. A lot of people cannot afford (or can't get) a "traditional" post-paid phone line.

I don't know what flagships you have owned, but I have never even heard of any iPhone not lasting a whole lot longer than 4 years. You can buy an iPhone 13 right now brand new for $200 or less. Just saying.

Where can I buy an iPhone 13 for $200 with no contract?

Been using the phone the last two days, it's slowly upgrading from android 14 to 16..…..... It's sluggish as hell though, really the only reason to get it is that it will continue to get OS and security upgrades until 2030.....unlike my moto Edge (2024) that will probably stop getting upgrade this year (and it's still on android 15)

All true, but only Androids mine your personal data 24/7 and sell it. Apple does not do that, and anyone who says they do are 100% factually incorrect.
or use a free Ooma wall phone and leave these off until neeeeeeeded may work for some of you. very simple friends. keep one in the car, leave it OFF. well now you know how the rest of us may be living.

Does adding this to existing active Tracfone service still work and does my existing data carry over?

Is any benchmark score to compare phone to phone?
The Galaxy A16 is a bit slower than iPhone 8 (2017).

Is it possible to use it simply by connecting to Wi-Fi without using the included SIM card?
