Always amazes me on every Tracfone deal, posters expect for $40. to get a I-phone like device and unlimited service. Not all of us need a phone to be an umbilical cord. I have an A14 Tracfone now and love it. I can talk and text all I need and check emails with it. Usually around wi-fi plus I have better things to do than watch a movie or play video games on a 6" screen. Blessed that for <$5.00 a month I can function quite well. Of course, I can tell everybody worth telling everything I know worth telling in 5 minutes or less

I put one of these in each of my kids gloveboxes, in case they lose or destroy their regular phones, so they can still get a hold of me in an emergency.

Been using the phone the last two days, it's slowly upgrading from android 14 to 16..…..... It's sluggish as hell though, really the only reason to get it is that it will continue to get OS and security upgrades until 2030.....unlike my moto Edge (2024) that will probably stop getting upgrade this year (and it's still on android 15)
The basic A1x series should get fast enough for basic use after about a week. I switch from my S24 Ultra to the A14 5G for when I travel abroad.

Sometimes I use these cheap phones as a WiFi radio to play long distance radio stations

I am trying to upgrade my S21 FE - what phone should I get?

S21 FE does not have eSIM - so ended up in getting a Moto razr for travel only - I do not like the Moto software interface.

A16 seems to have 4GB ram but s21 has 6GB. So slower?

I don't know what flagships you have owned, but I have never even heard of any iPhone not lasting a whole lot longer than 4 years. You can buy an iPhone 13 right now brand new for $200 or less. Just saying.
Where to get for 200

Does adding this to existing active Tracfone service still work and does my existing data carry over?
yes, top-off on existing line still works.

Aren't these disposable phones? After a year or two, drop another $40-50 and get another. I don't see what the confusion is about?Let's be incredibly generous, and assume a "top tier" flagship phone will last you four years (I've NEVER had one last more than 36 months without developing an issue of some sort, but let's not dwell). The cheapest "I'-Phone costs $600, and that's in the budget line. Most flagship phones cost between $800-1200....or more. So let's say you spend $800.Even if you bought one of these budget phones every six months for that same four year span... $50 x 2 per year x 4 years = $400. You're spending HALF the amount of flagship device....and that's with a pretty uncalled for six-month replacement schedule. And you have FOUR handhelds to your name instead of just one.Realistically, you're replacing them every two years....that's $100 for the same four year period. An eighth of the cost. Or less.Remember, these devices are intentionally engineered to fail after two years of daily use.
I have my s22 ultra still, works fine. Plan on keeping it another year with a 115 a year plan.

You can get a s26 for about 700 with a year of service. I was eyeballing an Samsung A36/37 with a year of unlimited for like 360 bucks, but I'ma hold off

Where can I buy an iPhone 13 for $200 with no contract?
Year and a half ago it was 300 for the phone and year of service. Bought one for a work phone. Did the 115 a year infimobile plan this year. 415 for a new iPhone 13 and two years of unlimited is a good deal if you ask me

Ok, thanks for sharing?

These are budget Tracfones -- $40 each. Not flagship $700 phones.

This would be a significant downgrade from the S21, even the S21 FE. The A16 is a much slower and worse device in almost every way, apart from being supported for future software updates.
If I were in your position, I'd wait until early next year to upgrade to a used S24. The S21 FE should get updates through January 2027, which is around when the S27 series will launch and drive down prices of older models.

It's actually 580 currently with a year of unlimited talk/text/data for the s26. I'm giving options and sharing deals, isn't that the point of Slickdeals?

Your numbers and logic are off, but it's whatever bro. Have a good one!

Pretty big difference, s26 with a year is 580 currently, a36 with unlimited is 360 or so.

I buy the phone plus year of service deal, then get infimobile 115 a year plan.

My numbers are off? How much more off do they need to be? We're comparing against a budget-tier $40 device.

It's like I'm driving a moped, and you're driving a Panzer tank. Even if you downgraded to an armoured Bearcat, it's still being compared to a moped.
