The US plant is shutting down, so once whatever US Fatmaxes that are in the supply chain now are gone, thats it.

Overrated tape... I own a handful of the USA made Fat Max, and while the width of the tape is a nice touch, their durability and craftsmanship are seriously lacking. I don't think a single one of them have a tape brake that actually works. I switched to Milwaukee tapes, and haven't looked back.

For those who weren't aware, you can identify the made in USA tapes by an American Flag on the main label of the tape. If there is no flag, it's an import.

It's either dead or YMMV, mine doesn't drop after being added to cart.
Also, the photo on the HD website does show the american flag on the label.

We use both at work, and this is more robust. Dropped both accidentally, and Milwaukee always broke (misaligned where the frame meets) when I dropped it from a 5 to 7-foot ladder.

Bought a couple FMs and a couple of the Craftsman version 5ish years ago on slick deals and as another poster said above, the brake is dead on like every one of them and at least one doesn't rewind correctly. I don't use them enough to buy a new one but I'd look elsewhere if I do need one in the future.

The American flag is only on the pictures of single tapes. The two-pack picture, without the flag, is what you're really going to get.

I think it has to be available at your store to get the 25 dollar for 2 deal. Also according to the Q&A 2 packs appear to all be made in Thailand tapes.

This used to be the class of tapes, but not so much now. After the standout wears down and the brake gives out and this thing is a useless. Not recommended for continuous ceiling work.
