The PS5 is the same price, it's not just Microsoft that raised prices, and allegedly MS is losing "hundreds" on each console due to the RAM shortage, although, I'm not sure I buy that personally.

I don't feel like you would make anything unless you were running a 5090, and even then it would probably take over a year to pay off the PC, assuming values didn't drop, and no equipment failures running a 5090 24/7.
400w doesn't cost anywhere near $450-500 in electric cost for 16 hours. Jesus… my server and network rack pulls about 400w, it's $50 for the month on 24/7.

I work for a gigantic company and we had a contract with either HPE or Dell for your typical hardware refresh type support and they just broke it, paid the fee for breech of contract and still make money. Either that or they calculated the losses were lesser if they just eat the fine and then sell at market rates.

As a long time Playstation and PC owner. Xbox is starting to look very good for just being able to buy physical game discs from any generation and playing them all in one place. Buying discs is often cheaper and can even be resold (plus it's real ownership), there's some decent reasons to buy an Xbox series coming from someone who saw literally zero reason to buy the Xbox one over the ps4. I don't have a ps5 but I've read they are moving toward implementing drm on discs or adding some online requirements?

I mean you have a decent pc so why not playing them on PC? Plus PC Game Pass is cheaper so not bad at all.

Cheaper than what? Not knocking subscription services but it isn't a comparison with buying games. But to answer your question. I want a console for my living room tv and the fact that the new Xbox can play discs from up to three gens back seems cool. Physical game ownership and the best backwards compatibility are why I'm interested. Also I've tried both windows and bazzite (steamos) for my living room PC set up and both are too buggy and occasionally forced me back into the desktop environment while on the TV

They are absolutely still manufacturing more consoles. They literally just announced a new limited edition green console.
Their entire MO is to get people to sign up for gamepass, they use their exclusives to get people to sign up for it rather than push sales on them. They made over 5 billion last year alone from gamepass.
