When was this 400$?? Lol I paid 250$ for it I guess when it was on sale from bestbuy, been using it over a year now. Battery life is great, I keep the thing at half brightness or a little over depending on use case because it's bright af at full lol. I keep it at 120hz refresh rate, it's snappy, plenty of storage, I use 4gb of virtual memory as well, not sure if that makes a difference with the 8gb base ram, stylus is simple but nice to have. It's a good phone- not sure if I'd pay 190 now knowing the 2025/26 have better snapdragon chips..
The 2024 is considered (by XDA at least) to be the best Moto in the past 3 years. The 2025 was a step down especially in battery life.
My 2025 Stylus G stays charged for a week on my desk, thats at 80% charge. I literally pick it up to play a game or two when I'm on boring conference calls
Then every Friday Ill plug it into charge for 35 mins, capping at 80%. The 2025 charges at 68W while this old one does a mere 30W.. I suppose if something charges faster it may degrade faster but itll be fully charged in 45 mins while the old one is only 50%..I'd rather have the convience of faster chargjng. A replacement battery is $20, if degrades buy a new one. Youll have a couple years before thats even an issue..
Pick a spec, other than the same amount of RAM, everything else was upgraded on the newer one, screen, processor, stylus, IP rating, Ai features, GPU perfomance, better camera, better speakers.. Plus, this old ones stuck on A15, while the 2025 version is waiting for A17.. Seriously, would you rather have all that or measly couple hours of battery.. again in 30 mins youll nearly have a full charge.. oh not to mention, the newer model is cheaper at nearly every prepaid carrier. Few were $50 plus a month of paid service, some were free with a month or two of service. That's like $120 for a better phone, at this point it's just plain stupid to buy the older model.. You'd have to be insane to pay more for lessor specs, only thing it has is it's unlocked. That's it..

My gosh, what an endless stream of oral diarrhea. Thanks, but I'll stick with my 15yr experience and the overall opinion of the largest Android forum in the world over some random on SD with poor punctuation.
GSIs can have issues with calling and data. Plus you can't update firmware/baseband without a ton of effort.
It's an option, but I don't recommend it for most today. Eventually GSI will be the Android OS however.
depends on the GSI, some are buggy others run just fine. you can check out xda-developers forum for more info. and the firmware/baseband are easy to update, just use the official software/firmware and the baseband/firmware updates automatically.
Perfect timing. My pixel 7 Pro had to be replaced under pixel care for a flickering screen issue where part of the panel was flickering yellow back in April. Almost the same issue is happening now in the replacement. According to the pixel care site I have warranty until July 26th. I tried to get another replacement and was informed that it wasn't covered. I have used and liked Moto phones in the past so I cancelled the now worthless pixel care and I ordered this phone. For what I paid for the pixel 7 pro and pixel care coverage I expected better treatment when I had to get a replacement for the second time.

How it is better than $65 Moto G Stylus 2025 deal from Metro By Tmobile other than being unlocked? If you are buying a 2024 model now, and if you can hold for an year have 2025 model for way less, shouldn't it be better to go for newer model?
I can understand folks who want to use it right away with any carrier but price seems way too high.

You answered your own question. Some people need to use the phone with a different carrier right away. Also some people think the 2024 model is better than the 2025 one.
Just received the phone but took out the box with very strong chemical smell, typically at the back of phone! Anybody had same experience with new phone in hand?

You posted the same in the Metro and here in BestBuy thread. So which of these phones had the chemical smell?
I have this exact phone, in caramel latte. It never sold for 399, there was always a discount attached. I was salty because the 22 and 23 models dropped to 250 after the first six months. I think I paid 300 for my first, it got ran over by a car (and still worked although it was visibly curved lol) and my second for 250, over a year ago. BTW it's a good phone, excellent value for the dollar. Not to be confused with the other Moto G line, including the Stylus 5G with 128GB storage because it gets less RAM etc. My only complaint is the Glance lock screen malware that Motorola has as an unremovable system app that was slid into my phone ~9 months ago. I have to jump into settings and do two backflips to get it to go away every two months or so because it reactivates itself. Big thumb down for that.
Never used glance and never saw it come back.
