What can you realistically smoke in this, size wise?
the 22 in the name refers to the width of the grill space at 22", the main grill is 19" deep and the upper "grill" (warming rack, but can be used to smoke) is 7" deep, So roughly 22 x 26" worth of space to put stuff on. If you're that concerned about the width, for an extra $110 the Pro 34 model gives you an extra 12" of grill width.
If you're a vet, remember to go through the shopmyexchange.com Home Depot storefront, it's $350 with no sales tax.
We bought this last May, for the same sale price, so considering the state of things this is a little slicker. Overall it has worked ok, hold a consistent set temperature. My main issue with it is that it hasn't worked well for reverse searing steaks. It's supposed to get up to 450, but after pulling a steak at 225 and turning the temp to the highest setting it takes forever to heat up--and I don't know if it would ever get to 450 because by the time it hits 400 the steak has been resting for so long that I throw in the towel and get what little sear I can at that temp. I have tried cleaning the grill before the next attempt, and using fresh pellets, it didn't make a difference. I can sear on the stovetop going forward, it's just annoying to not be able to do it on the grill. The Traeger replaced a Louisiana Grills smoker that died, it would go over 500 and get there pretty quick, so I don't think 450 in a timely manner is an unreasonable ask from this grill.
