This Frigidaire garage ready freezer is a compact upright that stands out for value, steady freezing, and long term storage. The manual defrost design is common in this price range and can actually help with deep freezing, while the temperature control can take food from slightly warm to fully frozen with a small adjustment. Long term use has been solid for some, though frost buildup, loud noises, nonadjustable shelves, and occasional shipping damage have come up. It is a practical pick if manual defrost is not a dealbreaker.

  • Garage cooks storing bulk meat, because manual defrost helps deep-freeze items and hold long-term freezer storage without freezer burn.

  • Households needing a simple extra freezer, because it has held up for years in long-term use and can be adjusted from slightly warm to fully frozen with a small change.

  • Owners willing to defrost periodically, because frost buildup is manageable when you stay on top of it and the freezer can run for a year or more between cleanouts.

  • Buyers comparing upright freezers on value, because this model was judged a better value and stronger brand than a smaller alternative.

  • Shoppers expecting frost-free convenience, because this freezer is manual defrost and needs periodic thawing.

  • Households that cannot tolerate shipping damage risk, because delivery issues and damaged replacements have been reported.

  • People who need quiet operation, because the unit can make loud noises during normal use.

  • Buyers who want adjustable storage shelves, because the shelves do not adjust.

I had one and it lasted two years. Also make small adjustments, it goes from slightly warm fridge to everything frozen with a small adjustment.

I have bought three of these for two different houses. Would buy more if I had enough space. Needs defrosting but not an issue for this price. Keep on top of defrosting but if ignored you will be forced too around a year in or so unless you like frozen victims never to be seen again.

This is a freezer, not sure what you're talking about. I bought this for $199 back in November and just defrosted it last week for the first time, it didn't need it but I used up all the sliced prime rib from the Easter supermarket sale and will keep unplugged until another steak deal comes along. I only had about a half inch of frost at the very top, could easily go a year and a half to two years between defrosts in my use case. Hardest part is emptying it LOL. I put it on my little collapsible hand cart and wheel it into the driveway from the garage, let it sit outside for the day, dry it off and wheel it back. All of you complaining about it not being frost free have never done long term freezer storage, you need non frost free or everything gets freezer burn. What kind of magic do you think a frost free freezer uses???
