Presumably anyone who knows what XR is for Dewalt tools would know they're not available in the 12V tools. Either way, good to clarify here.

Thinking this was the XR and not knowing XR's aren't available in 12V, I thought this was a great deal. This would have gotten me to convert over to Dewalt.

Have had my pair for over 5 years. Used daily for the first 3 years. They're my go to for everything, even built a front porch with them.

They are lightweight and both fit in the standard Dewalt bag with 4 batteries, accessories, and a drill bit box. Easily the best tool purchase i've made.

I was watching a power tool convention video on Youtube video back in late 2025/early 2026 and the Dewalt guy there said they have no plan on releasing new tools on their 12V product line in the foreseeable future, all their new tools gonna be 20V.

I bought a few of the tools. I do detailing and a little bit of interior work. I figure these are gonna be good for low impact low torque application. So these will just be interior only tool so they stay super clean.

Depends. The Ridgids will probably out preform overall but I bet you'd be more happy with these. Everyone hates on these dewalt 12v but so far I've had a few (not these particular tools) of the them and I have been blown away by how great each has been. The screwdriver is probably my favorite screwdriver and I own Milwaukee fuel 18 and 20v, dewalt 20v and Bosch drivers. I have also tried the ratchet and the impacts and they are better or equal than Milwaukee 12v equivalent imo.

I believe all 12v are considered "Extreme" and isn't that what XR stands for? I could be wrong but regardless these are of the line dewalt quality that would be on par with XR expectations. I've owned several of the 12v Xtreme line and they have been on as good or better than the 20v equivalent. Most times slightly less power but better build quality but sometimes the 12v js even the better / more powerful tool (see older oscillating tools). They only downside is that the tool selection isn't great overall and might not be supported for long.

Big bummer. I had this Dewalt 12V Drill/Driver and the ergonomics and build quality were fantastic. But ultimately Dewalt's decision not to build out their 12V line prompted me to abandon the platform.

I had this set and the screwdriver when they first originally came out. Great tools and they were brushed. Now they are brushless, they are even better tools but Dewalt hasn't expanded their lineup so I went with Milwaukee M12 years ago. Skil also makes excellent 12v tools but now dropped by Lowe's, the only place I can find anything is Amazon in the Skil 12v! Because most of the 18-20v the manufacturers have "stubby" models perhaps they are just offering the tools in that lineup moving forward? The exception of course is Milwaukees M12 lineup.
