Hope you are doing okay, and prayers for your friend. It's not ez but nowadays they can really help cleft palate children and do reconstructive surgery to the point that it looks very good.

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 Hours in a day is not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.

He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full..They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.

Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes'.

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table
and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things - God, family, children, health, friends, and favorite passions--things that if everything else
was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.

The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

So... Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.

Take time to get medical checkups.

Take your spouse out to dinner.

Play another 18.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

Take care of the golf balls first -- the things that really matter.

Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled. 'I'm glad you asked'.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.

I'm back to the land of the living! Baby moved off the nerve! Oh sweet relief, the agonizing pain is gone! The Ortho said that this could happen again at any time if she moves back, there's nothing I can do to prevent it, & to come in ASAP if it does. I was able to sleep this afternoon for the first time since Friday! We aren't in the clear yet- the contractions are back, so I'm bed bound with a giant glass of water & meds.

I was in really, really bad shape. Something that I can only share with you guys (haven't even told dh) is that I was in so much pain that I waited too long at the hospital to call for help, tried to get to the bathroom by myself, fell and had a little accident. Frown It was so humiliating, and I just started crying on the floor. The nurse was so nice- she helped me up and back in to bed. Being that position makes you very humble. So Kootzie, I should have taken you up on that offer for the Depends! Me and my stupid pride!

hoping for these contractions to go away so I can get off of bedrest. Dh has really stepped up to the plate and has been taking care of me and the boys, and the house really shows it! Any other time I would have been humiliated for people to come in and see it so messy, but I think everyone understands. We've also had some friends bring food and offer to watch the boys, which has been a total lifesaver. One mom of Danny's good friend even came over to the house at 2am to stay with the sleeping kids so David could take me to the hospital.

Dh is leaving for a conference in DC this weekend, and then on June 3 is leaving for Africa. I have people lined up for this weekend to come over just in case I need anything, but I'm hoping to be ok by then. Dh already put all of the money on his credit card to pay for the trip, and the school doesn't reimburse unless he actually goes and presents his work, so we'd be out $600 if he cancelled to stay home with me. It's only 2 days, so I think I can find help if I need it.

As for Africa, I am scared to death. The steroids they gave me for the nerve are also developing baby's lungs quicker, so I'm afraid that her body will think it's done "cooking" and I'll go into labor early. The good news is, is that when they checked my cervix I was not dilated at all, and this is when I was having contractions. So I'm clinging to that tiny piece of reassurance!

We just put the baby down, so dh ran to the store to get a blueberry pie and ice cream. He and I are both stress eaters, so we'll probably gain 15 lbs each from this week alone! I guess that's why they call it comfort food. Big Grin He was so excited to get out of the house, he ran out with his wallet and forgot his cell phone. The poor guy has been on 24 hour Daddy and nursemaid duty since Thursday!

OMG I feel so bad for what you are going through!!! Please rest! I have spent the last two weeks sitting on my butt and my MIL has done everything including my laundry!! But tomorrow we are back to Denver and my busy life. It has been a nice break!!

Just wanted to checkin and say Hello, we got lucky and the storm last night was rain with high winds and thunder and lighting we are supposed to get more storms tonight and all the way up to Thursday evening, I hope they are gentle, but tomorrow weather predictions says high risk for Joplin area again.

WOW! I'm always amazed when I hear of kiddos across the country getting out before June (some even much earlier). Growing up in Canada, we always went until the very end of June (28-30th), so getting out in mid-June now seems great. Until I hear all of you getting out early.

baby shower went GREAT...she opened gifts the ENTIRE time... we played games in between but with a crowd that size (85 peopl) it was hard to keep their attention. Thanks for the prayers. I know, I'm so glad this baby girl is being born today and not in the past. They know she will have 3 surgeries in the early years, possibly more once they get to meet her and see the specifics. She will need years of orthodontics and speech therapy, but hopefully they can see past all the challenges for the joy she will bring. We're just so excited to meet her. Praying that feeding goes okay, since it can be challenging and very expensive ($20 a bottle).

So glad you're doing okay. The news footage is incredible and it's hard to believe more lives weren't lost.

I can't believe I'm not at the hospital yet either. Worked all day and survived. Paying for it tonight, but really trying to make it 2 more days. Plus, Monday's are my doc's day off and I'd love to have her deliver (had DD on her day off). We'll see. It's all in God's hands and I'm just trying to wait on his timing and cook this baby a little longer.

Praying that feeding goes okay, since it can be challenging and very expensive ($20 a bottle).
It is truly amazing what they can do now days. Will keep praying.

I can't believe we got a phone call at 3:20 am and it was a wrong number!!!! GRRRR!! I missed it but it put me into a panic that DS was in jail again or something. Glad that wasnt' the case.

YIKES! I hate really early/late phone calls... it makes your heart drop and you go into instant panic....you know it's not good! At least for you, it was a false alarm! hug

Yeah! Booked our rental car for FL for $176 for the week via priceline! I am happy with that as we were just going to take a cab from the airport, but that roundtrip was going to be 80 bucks plus we were going to have to have a taxi at least one other time, so now if I get pi$$ed off, I will just take off and go see Kootz!

Somebody provide me an IDA link so I know what's going on. I think Scratchhead that IDA is an absolute surprise that ends up being a joy, but, not sure.
