A Five Guys burger joint just opened today in my area....the first in CA, I believe. I'm dying to go check it out. Maybe this weekend. Is all the hype justified?

after i garnish it with all the necessary toppings, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, pickles, regular onions and cheese i wrap it up in foil and nom nom.
not near as greasy and messy as five guys. the only thing missing is the five guys fries. other than that yea, the burger i make in my farkin kitchen is better/healthier/cheaper than the 5 guys burgers.
If you want cheap good quality fast food burger, In-N-Out is your better option. Small-ish burgers and decent fries and other stuff and you're good to go.
Five Guys is when you want a really good burger fast. Fresh beef in 2 huge patties and an amazing array of toppings included with the burger. Also, bring a friend for even the smallest order of fries cuz you're gonna need someone to help out. You're bill is easily going to be $10-15 for one person, not the $5-7 at In-N-Out.
That said, being in the midwest with no In-N-Out for 1000 miles and I could really go for some cajun fries (no monster style please).
The store layout is like a Chipotle with red and white checker boxes.
The burger taste more homemade than other fast food joint.
It beats out fancy burger restaurant.
But ultimately homemade is still way better.
My major complain is that burger, bacon, and fries all taste on a bit overdone / dry side.
But Bobby's Burger Palace (Flay's) is much better.
