Yep. I'm W A Y too cheap to ever purchase a Keurig. My old office mate had one and my niece off at school has one.

I must have overdone yesterday. Worked all day, walked out to the bldg behind ours twice, came home and mowed and then push mow trimmed. My limp is back and my knee hurts, even though I took it easy today.

Yawn thought I'd turn in and give it a rest.

Gah. Hate it when real life gets in the way of my shopping. laugh out loud I did make it to 2 Rite Aids and 1 Harris Teeter, so I can't really complain. But I wish there'd been time for Target. Oh well. Guess there's always next week!

j/k.. we still heart you.. I actually did not like my first, second, or third cup of coffee from my Keurig.. for me, it was a matter of finding the right flavor/brand of kcup.. Now, I am hooked.. don't like regular coffee at all.. I am really cheap with most things, especially when it comes to buying for myself.. but, I told DH just today, that I have had my Keurig almost a year and even if it didn't last that much longer and I had to buy a new one, it was well worth it for me.. One of the best birthday gifts I have ever gotten hands down!

Remember the bigger one? The beaver? Heidi loves it... squeak squeak... squeak squeak... We headed to bed the other night. She jumped up in her spot at the bottom and laid down. Jumped back down, ran out to the living room and came back with the beaver. Fortunately, she didn't feel the need to squeak it during the night.
awwwww. what a cute story.

hee hee.

we had a keurig at my last workplace. i used to drink from it everyday and i never felt satisfied. it tastes like coffee flavored granules diluted in water. hot water flavored with coffee rather than infused with coffee.
to me, it just doesn't have the boldness and mouthfeel of freshly brewed coffee.
they used to get good brand k-cups there, too. green mountain. organic stuff. but meh.

i have a 12 cup cuisinart coffee maker that i bought years ago. has a timer, so you can set it to start brewing at a certain time in the AM. can adjust coffee amount and water amount to get as many/as strong a cup as you want. delicious coffee it makes and I loved, loved, loved waking up to the smell of freshly made coffee. heaven. plus i used it for dinner parties to brew enough for guests. always a hit.

of course now, all of these things are moot thanks to my newfound migraine sensitivity to caffeine. and courtesy of the accident, dinner parties at my home are down to zero.
i was the only coffee drinker here, so i despondently washed and put away my cuisinart and stashed away all the coffee at the back of the kitchen cabinet.
one of these days, in a simplifying fit, i'll have to give it away. one of these days.

i've been thinking though that this fall/winter, i might buy decaf coffee beans in hazelnut and chocolate raspberry flavors and then use those to brew decaf in the mornings.

anyone here had freshly ground brewed decaf? how high is the caffeine content there? does it still get you all bounce ?

Hi all. So Keurig is instant coffee, eh? I'm kind of a coffee snob, but like l2b said, I found some flavors that even a snob should like. laugh out loud I just love the convenience of always having a fresh cup, and it's much faster and neater than my french press. The bodum would be my next favorite, before drip.

I haven't been to Target in weeks now, should have a bedroom full of pillows, but I did get 6 of them in the early days of that coupon.

I've had to make several runs to the market this week and haven't had time to keep up with any deals so it's about killed me to spend so much on groceries. I mean $2 for a box of Wheat Thins, and that's after using my $1/2 MQ that I keep in my purse! Things should start getting back to normal soon though.

Went to the movies tonight and saw "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", I thought it was pretty good. They set it up for a sequel/s too. I also want to see "The Help". I read that book and loved it, and don't expect the movie to be as good, but I do want to see it acted out.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

I hate instant coffee, and have never felt coffee from my Keurig tasted like it. In fact, my cup this morning is very rich and full-bodied-tasting, like a cup from my old coffeemaker. Its Millstone Breakfast Blend. yummy Is it perhaps just certain brands/flavors that are instant? Confused

Home from church with the youngest this morning. I want to make sure she gets completely better before bringing her out again. I think she just got exhausted from getting up so early for VBS all last week, and then playing her little heart out in the moonbounces. We definitely don't want anymore breathing issues around here! Speaking of which, I need to get her Albuterol refilled - we only have one vial left, and it actually expired May of this year!

Working on my drugstore lists for this week. Rite Aid is super light on the sales, so one stop there should do it for the week. Walgreens looks to be much more exciting, and I haven't looked at CVS yet.

Happy Sunday morning, all!!

Sorry GG, I didn't mean you hadn't tried good kcups Wink I should have said just finding the right one maybe.. I don't like a strong coffee flavor at all. I like a little coffee with my cream laugh out loud Actually, that was the problem with the first ones I tried.. too strong, too bold and I didn't like it one bit. Now, I just stick with flavored kind.. I like waking up to coconut flavor, chocolate, vanilla, etc..
Today, however.. I am out of all flavors Crying my new shipment hasn't come in.. I am drinking some caribou plain that I have for backup.. added vanilla syrup and creamer, but it isn't the same!

I think we all just have such unique tastes that it is impossible for us all to like the same things. I know I really didn't like even some of the flavored ones that most folks here did..

And, as far as the decaf.. I used to brew it alot in the late fall and winter months.. I would make it for the evening time. It didn't keep me up or wired.. I would say to give it a try.. start with a small cup!

Yeah, I ended up with 4 or 5 pillows I think. I just ran out of places to put them..

I hear ya on the groceries though. Things have been crazy and last week I went to kroger to get a few things.. walked out using no coupons and spent 78.00 for a few bags of stuff.. I came home and told DH that I could have gotten buggies full at target for that!

Yes, it must be brewed! I have a Bunn and reeeeeally like it. No timer on them since they brew as soon as you add the water and shut the lid but since a full pot is done in under 3 minutes it's not needed. By the time I feed the little dog and take my medicine, my coffee is waiting for me.

I use mine to brew tea too. I kind of lucked out and my glass pitcher fits under it without the coffee basket so I can brew it right into it. Put the sugar and tea bag in the pitcher, start the water, stop the water, stir to dissolve sugar, restart and let it finish. Fresh tea.

I was wondering if you had tried decaf. I'm not fond of flavored coffee so can't speak about those but we drink a lot of coffee and hot tea in the winter too. DH and I can drink a full pot of decaf after supper and it doesn't bother us. I always buy decaf tea bags since we drink that at night a lot too -- hot and cold.

Between DD and I we got 8 for her new house. I had plenty for myself from the last time. I told her she could take whatever she has on her bed now... since she's taking the bed! So 8 should be enough for her day bed for the guest room and then some.
Quote from flugette :

I don't think so. The way the machine works, put the cup in, puncture it, water goes through and mixes with the contents. If it wasn't instant you'd have grounds in your coffee cup. Plus, hot chocolate is powder not grounds. Now, what I can't quite figure out it tea. Apparently, there is instant tea? Or are some of the cups different and it doesn't puncture like that?

We went to an auction yesterday and there was a Keurig there. I think it sold for $45.

Pretty day here so far. Yesterday was a little windy but gorgeous. But, boy, it sure feels like we have turned the corner from summer to fall. Just that whole difference it the air.

morning! Yawn

after complaining i always get up at the same time, i slept later friday and this morning. today was most likely the result of being out in the sun all afternoon peach, nectarine and apple picking w/ dh. very nice day, sunny, not too hot, although it could have been a little cooler. beautiful orchards w/ beautiful fruit. too bad you have to eat the peaches so fast, practically right off the tree or they get really bruised. it's fun to hunt for the really nice looking ones and you always pick way more than you can possibly eat. dh had to show me each fruit he picked, how nice they looked, no blemishes, instead of just putting them in the bucket. i do have to say he picks nicer ones than me, but maybe also because he's taller and can reach the areas that haven't already been picked over.

called a friend who couldn't come b/c they had relatives drop by, to give them some fruit and ended up hanging out w/ them and having takeout for dinner. then caught bff coming home and luckily i had already put together her bag. so i've already given away about half. if i'm not too lazy today i will go and give my friend's parents some fruit, but it's raining all day and i may end up not going out today. we'll see...

tried to go veggie picking too but the place we went to the birds pecked holes in all the good tomatoes and they didn't have the kind of peppers i wanted. i found a few peppers and tomatoes to try, disappointed b/c at .99/lb would have been very good price for very fresh produce.

i want to go again the last wk of august/first wk of sept and take my in-laws and maybe my parents. they will have a good time and dh's mom likes to climb trees Teehee!

Sorry for the crappy Wags run!! hug Glad I could cheer you up a little. Big Grin

I had such a great time shopping this afternoon! Found pretty much everything I was looking for, except the new Huggies at CVS. And then went to the recycling center and found nothing. I seriously am more and more convinced that the Wash Post declared that all inserts must *not* be recycled. For the past 6 weeks or longer, I have not found one single insert. Mind you, hundreds of Sunday papers are recycled every week, but not one of the inserts are included with them. I can only assume WP figured they were losing too much money from people dumpster diving? Not sure. Seems fishy to me, though, that I was able to get more than enough every week for well over a year, and then all of a sudden, goes down to zero. I mean, I can get ones that people throw in there, individually, but that's such a drag.

Anyway, must figure this out.
