Say what you want about the ending plot, but the pacing of the story was nice, and the characters were well developed, and ABC threw a lot of money at it.
older show that has ended, sopranos, the shield, both of those had better endings,

I haven't watched Kimmel's "Lost" show yet, but will Hulu it sometime this week, hopefully.
And the following may piss of many "Lost" fans, but as a fan of both this show and "24", I can't help but compare the 2 series' finales, esp. given the proximity in time of each other ("Lost" airing on Sun. night and "24" on Mon. night). Basically, "24" kicked the pants off "Lost" in terms of ending. "Lost" let me a little lost and confused. "24" left me breathless and speechless (until now).

I don't understand the point in throwing so much into it when they would just kill them off in the end...
If you don't plan to explain things - and just want to develop the characters - then don't add all these mysteries! They just kept adding and adding to it.
The button/Desmond made sense to add because he had to do what he did to become resistant to the electromagnetism. Then he could drain the "Light".
But the nifty hieroglyphics when they didn't enter the numbers (not to mention the hieroglyphics all over the island) and all that were just not necessary in the end.
So we found out how The Black Rock ended up in the middle of the island. We found out where Richard came from and why he didn't age. We found out what the whispers are. We found out who MIB was, but not his name (they couldn't do a "My name is Noah Bennet" thing).
Bah - it just feels like in all the commercials for this season they told us we would get answers. And the answers they gave us weren't really that big. They were nice...
I don't know. I just like more closure than "They all died".

Is it mechanical? It sure sounds mechanical... What the heck is it?
I figured we wouldn't get an answer to that, and I guess I'm okay with it - I mean, how would they explain that, with the mechanical sounds and all. Oh well.
And we know what the statue is/was, and the foot thing. We just don't know how it got there.
Or where "Mother" came from - and where she got this brilliant idea to protect the Light.
