Did you watch?
For a show on a non premium cable channel, I thought it was very good. I never read the comic, so I don't know how it compares, but I'll be watching every Sunday. pisses me off that I don't get AMC in HD though.

And...really, the ending was so lame. Show who was beaten / killed to keep my interest and make me want to return next season. Put a fork in me, I'm done...
when i saw the brutal IMDB rating for the episode (5.9, now 5.7), i knew they didn't show who died at the end. i did enjoy the first few minutes of Negan's monologue, but it definitely wore on toward the end, and the the way he chose was an eye-roller. as far as i'm concerned, the dungeon scene in Pulp Fiction owns picking a victim using that rhyme.
it had fat that could have been trimmed, but not enough to take out ~20 minutes to knock it down to the normal 60-minute block. they have to pay the bills and make a spectacle of it, so they went to a 90-minute block to make more room for commercials. hence showing several of the roadblocks and Negan taking twelve minutes to say six minutes' worth of information. it's criminal we saw all those things but got no details on the guys who arrived to help Carol and Morgan.
if i watch next season, it will be for Negan. he represents the most powerful centralized authority we've seen so far, and in keeping with the TWD universe, he's the most transparently ruthless. the lesson of the series so far: when all the rules are stripped away, humans get the farthest by taking what they want by force, making subjects of those they've conquered, and filling their ranks with borderline sadists who enjoy having power over others. being nice/fair/charitable is stupid if freedom and survival are your goals.
i'm actually all for Rick's group being assimilated so we can explore Negan's organization and maybe expand both the geographical and people group scopes of the show. Alexandria was kind of fun to see a weird experiment of people who were basically untouched by the outbreak, but after they proved they could harden up, that was basically done. as i've said before: the main reason i watch this show is so i can talk TV with normal people (not a lot of people i meet are into The Knick, Boardwalk Empire, and various David Simon projects)
completely random sidebar: i felt a little creepy while watching a recent episode of The Knick because of TWD. one of the rich playboys on that show (set in 1901) buys an early video camera and decides to record one of his girls (Emily Kinney, AKA Beth) undressing. i thought it was just going to be implied, but she actually got topless, and all i could think of was "i feel creepy for seeing Beth's boobs."
Were the knights in the comics? Spoilers most welcome. Where is the comic storyline as compared to the tv show? Is it past Negan's storyline?
that said, the closing camera angles indicate he took a couple pretty big swings at the character's head with a bat covered in barbed wire, so unless they've got a staffed OR room standing by, that would pretty assuredly mean death in real life. however, we are in the TWD universe where Eugene can be back and up running a few days after getting shot, Carl can live after being shot straight through the eye, and Carol can be shot three times (twice in the areas of major arteries) and not bleed out.
The season finale is actually Issue #100 in the comics and they are now on Issue #152 with #153 coming out this month. A whole slew of stuff has happened in those 52 issues which I won't get into but rest assured it is satisfying and I can spoil that there is yet another faction after the Saviors that Rick and company have to deal with that lead to yet more major role deaths.
Another point about the finale - anyone remember Daryl get farking shot last week? They totally skipped over that and just showed him alive with a blanket around his shoulders. Totally removed all doubt as to a) whether he was alive and b) it clearly wasn't a life-threatening injury, or one that disfigured his face. Absolutely lazy, disrespectful writing; just a plot device to end the penultimate episode with a BANG.

i fully agree about Daryl getting shot. as i said last week, the fake death is my least favorite trope, and this week's episode proved it was truly a cheap stab to generate some interest by threatening the death of the most popular character.

Characters just leaving Alexandria on a whim, not checking in, the "leader" is too busy comfortably lounging in bed with his new queen, and meanwhile there are all these stupid little story lines to conveniently get EVERYONE to leave, and end up in the same place.
Sloppy, lazy writing, and totally disrespectful to the people who have even touched the comics. I don't hate when GOT diverts from the source material, because Martin doesn't blatantly lie to my face on national television, or use gimmicks to pretend shit didn't happen.
I am honestly surprised Kirkman was as proud of the finale as he was on Talking Dead. It's turning into Lost, with all the unanswered questions.

Maggie and Glenn separating is driving me crazy. He gets saved from certain death at the season break, and then they spend most of their time apart.
I think Carol is slowly approaching her comic end. I won't spoil anything, but she is not the badass she became on the show, and it seems like she's quickly losing her identity.
I don't know why, but I feel like she's going to convince Morgan to kill her? That's not what happened in the comics, but she clearly does not want to soldier on anymore, and she'll put that heavy decision on Morgan.

Just hated how that happened in the comic.
