Oh, Kallison, I wanted to add too -- it sounds like this is necessary helpful move for both you and your parents. I believe you mentioned that they had some serious financial problems also. Sounds like you are helping them as much as they are helping you. Isn't that wonderful!

Mine were not expensive either; I got this [amazon.com] set on Amazon for I think $219.xx...price fluctuates on them frequently. I went off of a lot of reviews I read online from ppl saying they had both these and expensive All-Clad and that they worked the same if not better so I said why not. Love 'em.
*snip*

Annoyed Great. Another item for my Amazon wish list laugh out loud Maybe they'll go below $200 and I'll grab them then Wink

Mucinex. Seriously, if you don't have any, send hubby to the store right now. It is kind of expensive but it's well, well, worth it. I started taking the off brand every 4 hours right away as soon as it felt like it was heading to my chest. It stopped it. Then hubby came down with the same thing and he started taking the actually Mucinex brand every twelve hours and it stopped his too.

You can get the off brand cheaper at Dollar General, but I really think its' worth it to pay more for the name brand. It's time released and it's every twelve hours. Unless you really want to get up in the night and take it - I could actually feel a difference missing that middle of the night dose.

Oh, the Mucinex DM has a cough suppressant. The 14 count box is on sale at Walgreens right now for $10. I can't remember how much it is at Wal-Mart.

You don't have to spend near that to get a decent set. Mine are Farberware and I have no idea where I bought them or what I paid, but I know it was no where near that much.

Just look at the bottoms and make sure they have some thickness to them. I notice some say "aluminum core base" and I think that may be what mine are. The bottoms have a round circle about 1/2" thick. I HATE copper bottom pans. Other people like them, but I not one of them.

The heavy bottom does two thing -- it keeps them from being tipsy and it distributes the heat more evenly and keeps things from burning.

You can always start replacing pans one at a time too.

Mucinex main ingredient is Guafenesin
Mucinex cough supressent has Guafenesin and Dextromethorphan Hbr

Walmart (like most stores) sells their branded version with SAME exact ingredients as name brand.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mucus-R...t/14150039

I believe that its under $10 and almost always Walmart brand is cheaper than Wags brand

If we can't get our OTC meds free at wags or cvs (after q's)then we buy Walmart "equate brand"

They work the same since the ingredients and dose are the same.

In fact more often then not we prefer "equate" brand over name brand because they don't add
arteficial ingredients to most stuff ( their multivitamins are the only ones I have found for kids and adults without aspartame or other artificial sweetners.

Oh yeah and many anodized items contain teflon. We switched to stainless stell a long time ago( 6 yrs) But my inlaws insisted on buying or bringing a teflon pan for their eggs.

I told them that they are welcome to visit but we are a no plastic(dishes/cups) and no teflon house.
Of course we use "safe" plastic, but I tell my family and DH family not to buy plastic kids dishes for my kids because of the dangerous chemicals in plastic.

Comfort My Mama died when I was in college. I moved from Northern VA and a job I loved to care for my dad, as I had spent over 5 years coming home every 3 weeks to take care of him (643 miles one way). My dad died the day before I turned 40. Tennessee Christmas by Amy Grant used to be one of my favorite Christmas carols, but now all I do is Weeping when I hear it.
Thanksgiving will be hard, as well as her birthday and the first Mother's day.

If you want to trade for the Target Prescription Q, PM me please. I have a few from todays paper.

I can't concentrate in there. I keep bouncing from department to department. It's a conspiracy to make us spend more money.

My guilty pleasure this week : http://www.ellenkennon.com/
I ordered the 5.00 sample kit of all her custom paint colors. The paperboard is actually painted with the paint so you get a true color. Comes in a little red velvet pouch with a ribbon too Coverlaugh A few colors I just really want, but ahh...pricey.

My thoughts on teflon and other coated cookware. I don't care for it. I use my cast iron skillet and stainless. I also have the Martha Stewart cast iron dutch oven that I love.

The one thing I have really been looking at every time I go in Lowes is a gas stove. I have electric now and I HATE it. My water heater and heat are gas, so no problem converting the stove. This one particular stove has 5 burners, 2 on each side and an oblong one in the middle. The grate goes all across the top in two pieces and it has a cast iron griddle that fits in the middle over the oblong burner. Must Have This Stove.

Want the long drawn out detailed version? Roll
Basically, I went to go pee laugh out loud stood up, went to pull my pants up and had a full blown vertigo attack and well, when that happens, I go down where ever I am, which happened to be in front of the toilet. Would have been nice if I landed on the seat sitting upright, but no, I had to fall straight back and my upper back/shoulders/neck took out the tank. Cracked it right off the bowl. I felt like I had been hit by a train. ouch.

Every time I see those I just think how nice they would be for making noodles. I usually use a roaster and it's so hard to keep them boiling when they are twice the size of the burner.

That's it. That's probably the one and only thing I would ever use that burner for but it still makes me drool.

I was wondering if I would really use it too, but I think I would use the griddle more than anything else. Pancakes, sandwiches, burgers, whatever. I really want that range LMAO

Teri - I am in need of a gas stove. My oven quit working on mine a long time ago. We have been using a Toaster Oven to bake. Just DH and me so not too big a deal. Would like a new one though.

This one sounds nice. Can you say the price and brand?

Thanks.

The one with 5 round burners is a Fridigaire (I think) and it's over 700.00. The one with the griddle I don't know the price, it was sold today and the price tag had been taken off. Both were in stainless. They have much cheaper ones though. I just like these because the grates go all across the stovetop instead of over each burner.

Yours may be OK if you knew what the breakdown of the layers was when you bought it and everything. There are *some* that do not have Teflon; I think there is just a misconception that if it's hard-anodized it does not have a Teflon coating....I know that's what I thought too. If your pans are super-nonstick I would probably be more concerned that they did indeed have a Teflon layer. I also read that the anodized layer can wear off over time and expose the aluminum....and at that point I wasn't completely unsold but I figured if I got SS they might not look pretty forever but I wouldn't have to worry about anything wearing off laugh out loud

ok now you guys definitely have me worried. i'm going to go research those pans again to make sure i am not inadvertently using teflon. thanks for the info! thankfully we only have 3 anodized pans/pots. so at worst those will go bye bye.

flugette and MOT2, hope you both feel better soon!
flugette, do you have any ricola drops at home? not the sugar free kind, just the regular one, that comes in the yellow bag with herb pictures all over it and does not say sugar free on it? whenever i have a cough or sore throat, i heat up water, like you would for tea, but hotter, then in a cup of that super hot water, put two of those drops. stir from time to time for the first few minutes. the drops will melt completely and make "ricola tea"
drink up! it opens up the passages, soothes the cough and the throat. really helps!

would having an empty towel bar screwed into the wall right by the toilet help? so you could use it as a grab bar the moment you feel it coming on?
