Both of you need to stop feeling badly and defending yourselves.I BF'd my first for six weeks and at her six week check up, she had lost a dangerous amount of weight. I was ordred to switch to Enfamil immediately. I produced very weak milk. The next two, I didn't even try. As you all have seen, they grew into healthy happy adults and you can't tell they were bottle babies. I was so down on myself that I cried a river until I accepted it for what it was. No, I was not earth-mother but they grew to be healthy, happy responsible adults and I believe they truly love me. Diapers and breatfeeding is the LEAST important thing you will do for your children. Tell them you love them every day. Tell them they are beautiful everyday. Make everyday an adventure and make them your priority after your husband. This is what is most important.hearthughearthug
Oh I know that the people that are my real friends are not going to drop me as a friend because I have a c-section or use disposable diapers! But I do feel like I should say things slowly and not all at once. It is funny because everyone is also afraid of TV and I am always saying things like that they are learning Spanish from Dora. I'm not the most granola girl on the block either. I use disposables...my son is circumcised....and my kids are vaccinated. We did a delayed schedule with DS but he's caught up now and so are the girls. They all slept with me for a time but that was for varying reasons - never the "family bed" reason laugh out loud All that said, I have fought like hell for natural births and breast-fed babies and wouldn't you know it that after the first two, the last two wouldn't come out without a c/s and have been barely bf'd. Embarrassment Of course, nothing ever turns out like I planned so this is not a surprise exactly but it's funny how it works so easily for some people and they think it is that way for everyone.
LMAO You do have a way with words

Still feeling real awful. This is just nuts.

Spent the day yesterday on the couch watching TV and napping.
I kept down Diet Sierra Mist and saltines

Made some macaroni and ate with a little beef broth around 6p.
Went to bed at 9 and just like the night before I was awoken at 3a making love to the toilet.Confused

What the heck is going on? Throwing up for me is never easy especially when there is hardly anything in my stomach.

Trying to eat a little plain oatmeal to see if that stays in...

Dawn-I seem to remember you doing sign language dvds for kiddos...wondering your thoughts on something...my daughter is likely to babysit for a 9 year old girl this summer who will eventually be deaf. She only has partial hearing right now, but her parents have not started working with her or getting prepared for this in any way...that is a whole nother issue! I am sure that my daughter would love to help her learn as well as herself learning sign. This little girl looks up to my DD and I think it could be successful and fun with the right program. What are your thoughts...would DVDs like yours be a good introduction for them or is there a program that you would recomend?

I sent a card for only one set so far, but I will at least have 2, and if we wind up with an uneven number, then maybe 2.37 or something (or $12.47). Dependant upon the value of each square remaining.

Why are we all rooting for the bears? Does everyone else think that Aaron Rodgers is a dick?

So I have had a fun weekend. Yesterday I went and bought more yarn and then went to my SIL's baby shower. I had a great time. It was nice to hang out with other women, even though I only knew a few of them! laugh out loud My MIL offered to throw me a baby shower at my SIL's shower. It was kinda strange. IDK what to do about it. We shall see. We took a pic of us belly to belly. I am bigger than her even though I am 2 months behind her Frown Here [facebook.com] is the pic. Oh well laugh out loud
Then last night I made a hat for Lily. The night before I made one too, but I did something wrong and it ended up fitting Soph laugh out loud Oh well, she is happy! Here [facebook.com]is a pic of the hat I made last night. I just need to add the flower to it. I am planning on making a few more in this style. Smilie
I did some garage saleing this weekend. All 3 I went to yesterday were duds. All boy stuff and nothing I really wanted/needed from the baby gear. Today we went to 5 more. Alexa got some clothes at one, and then another was good for me for maternity clothes. A different one was good for some small baby gear things I needed. I got a tub for $2 and a bumbo tray for $1. Great steals IMO! I cleaned them already, but will do so again closer to when the baby gets here. I am crazy about cleaning it all, even if it looks clean! All of the sales today were boys clothes again though! laugh out loud That is 8 this weekend and they were all boys! LMAO Oh well! Anyways, I had a good time!

I think a white bed would work fine for a boys room. Especially the one in the link.

I have a question for you young moms. I've been hearing all over the news that they are no longer making drop side cribs. Were a lot of babies being injured by them? I have not heard of any injuries although I'm sure in all the years they were made there might have been some somewhere. I don't know how short people (such as myself or my girls) will do getting babies that aren't standing or pulling themselves up out of the crib without partially climbing into it to get them when you put the mattress on the lowest level. I'm only 5 ft tall (so is Sara and Lauren). I always dropped the mattress down when the babies would start rolling or start to sit up fearing that one day they would pull themselves up and fall out. I guess short people leave the mattress high now? I was so surprised that they were making a big deal out of taking drop side ones off the market when they have been around forever without a problem. John was so rough with our crib when he would wake up. He loved to jump and would hold on to the side and just jump and jump and I would hear the crib slamming into the wall and I would worry about the side giving way but it never did. I thought they were pretty safe. Oh well...things change I guess.
Things have definitely changed since my boy was baby!

Quote from TripOnSD :
I know what you mean. There was a Moms group I tried to meet with when mine were just over a year old. Most moms had their little babies in with them (which I think is totally fine), but there was childcare available. It was only 90 min. When they get to the distracting age (babbling loud, throwing stuff off the tables, etc) I was just ready for them to put their kids in the childcare class! These were moms that had older kids in the childcare class. I was there to hear the speaker and chat with other moms - and take a BREAK from my three and not take care of other people's kids.

I know, I sound MEAN. Sorry. I know I am safe here. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE kids and I love babies. I'm not talking about putting your 1 week old in there, but your 2 year old.

They also tried to tell me I could have BF longer if I had tried (I pumped for 2 months, and they never latched because they were preemies and I had never done it before to be able to push through it).

They also told me it would be better to use cloth diapers. That the cost up front was worth it. Well, we were living on student loans while DH was getting his PhD and NO income... so HOW CAN I AFFORD THE COST UP FRONT??? Thankfully I stocked up on the WAGs double dipping deal (twice) and from about 18 months until they were potty trained, that is all we had to use!!!

Sorry, it was a bit of a sore subject for me since I felt I was being judged. I think we all have been there Wink
I don't think any of them should be TELLING you how to raise your child. You will do what is best for your child and they can do what they think is best for theirs. Everyone is different and do things differently. I don't believe making someone feel "bad" about something they are doing is going to help in any situation. Okay, off my soapbox now....

hug So sorry--I hope you get to feeling better soon. Is DH feeling any better?
I woke up in the middle of the night and could hardly swallow it hurt so bad. Went on to church this morning and could have sang bass if I chose to sing but it hurt to sing so I didn't. Now I think I'll just go curl up on the couch under my blankie and rest....I blame it on the people at WM this week.

Poor thing!! My dvd and the other baby sign videos teach more of basic vocabulary. I am not familiar with a program that teaches signing in depth the way this girl will need but I am sure it is out there. I would be happy to send you a set if you think they will help. There are clips on our website for you to get an idea of what it looks like. www.sayitvideos.com

Thanks for you ideas and your offer...but if we decided these will be a fun summer activity, we will buy them. I just feel that if she is babysitting for her, she could see great results as this little girl adores her and if my DD could make it fun vs. feeling like school or she has to do it, I would think that they would both benefit now and in the future. I am meeting with the parents in a few weeks and I will see what their plans are and if they would be okay with her helping out.
