Oh, and cathi, I keep forgetting to tell you, I got your envie!! Thanks SO much! I've already used some of the coupons, and hubby is very thankful.
Glad you could use them, I sure appreciate the ones you sent me also. Smilie on the mustard...I didn't get them either Frown

thank you sweetie. thinking of you everyday and praying. how are things? don't have to answer that if you don't feel like. just know you can always email or pm anytime you like, k?
I'm hanging in and really appreciate the prayers..too much sadness going around here already ...

Thanks may just take ya up on that ., but not today

DH's grandma had a bad stroke today so they are not going to do the surgery for the brain bleeding. She didn't recognize her kids or grandkids and was not talking. After talking with the doctors, the family decided to not do the surgery, take her off of dialysis, and take her home and have hospice come in. Hospice will keep her comfortable and wait for her to pass. No idea how long it will take - they said it will depend on when the kidneys shut down. I had to call dh and let him know, and while he knew her time was likely to be sooner rather than later, he's pretty shocked right now. Please pray for him - I think this will be especially hard for him.
That's such a diffficult heartbreaking situation for the family ,will pray for you all
Quote from dreemedayze :
Ank, I am very sorry to hear about DH's grandma. Frown All this sadness going around. All the lost loved ones. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Well, I got sick and tired of trying to sell off my stockpile so I posted on craigslist that it was free. People came by the van-load. Some super greedy and pissing me off, others conservative and greatful. Then this one guy came by that goes to a local church. He didn't really want much, just some cough drops. He was very nice, didn't plead his case, nothing. I offered to give him the rest. The look on his face was priceless. I let the greedy people finish loading up their bags and boxes and waited for them to leave. The guy went and got a trailer and came back and we filled it from the front to the back with all my stockpile stuff. (with the exception of 2 tubs of stuff that I'm keeping)

He's coming back tomorrow to get a bed, dresser, and patio furniture we don't need. He's also going to haul off all the bags and bags of crap that we've had to toss out and boxes we don't need. So awesome.

Anyhow. I did my good deed for a long time. Smilie
You've done waaaaay more than your share of good deeds hug

I can't even imagine this house selling any time soon. I totally thought we'd close on our lot and have a few months to get together plans and find a builder before it sold.
Congratulations that's great !!!! I'm soooooo jealous the beach seriously !!!!!!laugh out loud

hug will do that.. we usually go to sesame place atleast twice during the summer, less than an hr from my place.. we always travel to Nj which is quite often since we have lots of friends, we go along route 1.
sesame place is half hr from my house and i am just off rt 1 so perfect for us. we may need to aim further south, closer to philly for cathi. since meeshe drove all the way to disneyworld, i don't think driving an extra half hr to hr should bother herStick Out Tongue.

only my coupons. otherwise my house is *CHAOS*. *can't have anybody over syndrome*.

i went to the asian mkt to get veggies b/c we are expecting another 6-8inches tomorrow nite and not sure if i will get to the supermarket until maybe friday. got asparagus, baby bellas, shanghai bok choy, napa cabbage, kohlrabi, scallions, cherries, udon noodles, firm tofu, oyster sauce and milk.

already ate half the shanghai bok choy and some of the baby bellas for dinner tonite. i think the rest of the wks dinners will end up like this-
-asparagus, baby bellas, onion, stir fried w/ either beef or chicken
-kohlrabi stir fried w/ shrimp
-udon noodle soup w/ either napa cabbage or shanghai bok choy w/ either shrimp, chicken or ham and either shitake mushroom (always have dried in the pantry) or the baby bellas
-bean thread noodles w/ napa cabbage, shitake mushroom, egg and either ham or chicken
-napa cabbage stir fried w/ shrimp

i'm feeling like mac and cheese this wk so i might do it w/ ham and peas and have the asparagus and mushrooms on the side. lemme get the ham steak out to defrost right now. half the ham will go in the mac and cheese , half will go in the bean thread noodles. b4 i started trying to eat better, i would just have mac and cheese w/ peas for dinner. now i make some sort of vegetable side for half my plate.

need to go out again tomorrow to buy whole wheat buns for lunches.

i want to cry. nix that i've already cried a bunch this evening and it did nothing.
nothing is helping the pain today and the added nausea plus the added migraine and the resulting vomit doesn't help.
i want to bawl like a baby. anyone care to join me? crying alone is no fun. Crying

slowtech... organic bok choy is on sale 1.49/lb at WF this week. those things are so light, one can get quite a bit in a pound, no? what say you?
your meals sound yummy. i want to eat them.
bok choy with bellas and shrimp - in what kind of sauce? like a white sauce? (not western white sauce of course)
i want home made fried rice. with home made flavorful crunchy gingery stir fry.
and i want my mommy. Sadwalk

I need some insurance help. My mom has some issues and has no life insurance. I need to find something kind of inexpensive and reputable so she has some kind of coverage. I'm not the oldest child but somehow it ends up I have to be the responsible one. *sigh*
You might want to check out some products they call "guarantee issue" - meaning they won't turn down anyone. I think they require that you live a certain amount of time to collect the face value of the policy. Otherwise, they just return the premiums you paid.

It might be easier to get something through some kind of group membership - like AARP.

Something like THIS [nylaarp.com]

But the premiums are kind of high..

it sounds like there may have been some funny business going on. internal theft is a huge problem, actually bigger than shoplifting and rampant.
.
I was thinking that too... someone pointed that out in the thread.. that the cashier and the shoppers might be working together.

My mom got real upset once when she was shopping at Target and a girl that knew her was checking her out - and the girl started sticking stuff in my mom's bag without scanning it - and winked.... Mom made her take it out and scan it...

Quote from slowtech :
she will probably never do it. you should consider taking out a life insurance policy on her and paying the premiums yourself. as long as the policy is in force, you will always get more than you paid into the policy unless they live to 100 and then you just get your money back. same goes w/ the loans. they just deduct the loan amt from the face value and give you what's left. as long as you are the beneficiary, nobody can make a claim against it.
Really good point - you can take out insurance on anyone, as long as you have "insurable interest."

Quote from bunnies46 :
I would like to say....

I'm super busy with my life and because I know you all don't have a life..and even if you do, well mine is more important..so I need to know what are the great deals and where are the coupons?

Also you may all take turns with clipping my coupons and going shopping for me. I prefer brown bagged over plastic.

I will determine who goes first based upon the level of your meaninglessness in your life.

a picture is really worth a thousand words. :.
I agree so much with that. In January 2004 my husband and I went to visit my sister. She had been ill for awhile, but was getting better...or so everyone thought.

My husband snapped this picture of us hugging each other goodbye as we were leaving to go home. That was the last time I saw my sister alive. Though I was planning to go visit her again in March, she died in her sleep, unexpectedly, in late February.

I am SO glad my husband took this picture - because it reminds me so much that if I had known that was the last time I would see my sister, I would have spent out last moments together EXACTLY the same way (except I might have hugged her a just little harder and a whole lot longer...)

Wow, how awful that could have been if your mom didn't notice and then got caught. Why in the world or someone risk that when they know they are being video taped. The tapes are pretty damn clear too. I once wrote the check for $20 over. Got down the road or home and noticed I didn't have my $20. Couldn't figure out how I lost it and DD was sure she I hadn't gotten it. Called the store. They reviewed the tape and it was clear enough to determine that she had not handed me my $20. (I'm sure it was completely unintentional -- we were talking, etc.) They mailed me the money since I live so far away.

no kohlrabi (no clue what to do w/it).
I like it raw. Just peal off the outside skin, cut into little sticks and eat.

Philadelphia Cooking Creme, Savory Garlic -- made the chicken pot pie last night. The dogs are enjoying it. Not even a case of "I'll eat it tonight, but don't make it again". vomit

The garlic is very, very strong. So unless you love garlic, skip this flavor. Now, my disclaimer here is that hubby nor I like strong garlic. A little, like what is in spaghetti sauce is fine. I even use some in skillet lasagna. But neither one of us will ever order Shrimp Scampi. I really hesitated about buying it but there were two recipes that looked kind of good and both called for that one. I thought maybe it would be subtle, not over powering. I was wrong.laugh out loud

On the upside, the texture was pretty decent. It didn't get all runny and soupy. It even sort of held the filling (chicken & veggies) together a little bit. I took it up with a pie server, not a spoon.

My five new tables get delivered today. I'm anxious to see them. Still waiting for the new but being reupholstered love seat. (Ordered it new, got it, fabric started fraying immediately, company is reupholstering it in a different fabric.)

While you are decided who is going to go do all of Bunnies shopping, you can decide who is going to come do my coupons. I, umm, sort of forgot to do last week's inserts, so I have two week worth to do.
