If they are gritty they aren't cooked enough. They should have the same texture as Malt-O-Meal. Even quick grits take 5 minutes in the microwave.

Grits - not like corn meal mush. They are white and have a much milder flavor. They do have a similar texture.

I see that. It shows a city that's about 120 miles from me. Otherwise, all I am noticing is that I am now getting banner ads. I have Adblock Plus on FF and have never had ads. I manually blocked one, but now there is another. But, as to noticing other stuff -- I am quite possibly the most unobservant person you will ever meet.

ETA: I right clicked on the banner ad and unchecked "show all". Ad went bye bye.

. first of all, you are the official recipe tester in the diet support group. if you can make it, anybody can make it. we need you! somebody has to be the guinea pig and tell us if it tastes good!

we will have a serious discussion about this later missy, like tomorrow. i haven't been to the supermarket in 3 wks and i have to be back in a couple hrs and then we have a banquet to go to.

I want some opinions on our basement project. There are two bedrooms and a bath (with laundry) down there. We are now working on the main room -- family room, I guess. It's fairly large room about 15 feet wide and 22 feet long.

One end has kind of a bump out and its going to be built in (more or less) with a 24" closet on one side, sort of a platform with a fireplace and tv above that in the middle, and 24" shelving on the other side. Overall that is 10' across. This has to be done to enclose water meter, pipes, etc. The closet if for the water softener.

So, at the opposite end of the room there is an 8' long wall. (The bathroom is on the other side). There are water and drains in there. This would be a perfect place to put a wet bar. I wouldn't do a bar type bar. Pretty much cabinets across there with a mini fridge and micro built in. Sink on top and counter top. I could not do cabinets all across the top -- there is a small window. But maybe a middle glass cabinet or shelves.

I wouldn't put a bar type thing out in front that you actually stand behind and sit on the other side. But down the line someone could add this easily and have the counter and sink behind.

This is not something we particularly want or need. Nor would we use it, probably. Cost and ability to do it aren't an issue. I am thinking more of down the line for resale. (We aren't selling anytime soon).

When we sell it will very likely be to someone much younger. With the added finished basement and other improvements -- we have 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a fenced yard with a pool.

Should we add the wet snack bar or not?

Really needed to get rid of some coupons that expire on the 31st. Didn't make much of a dent.

Don't get me started on drs. After the oopsie open heart surgery in 2000, & the drs that said "You're just a 1st time mom" to my child w/ autism, & the myriad of drs who don't know how to treat autism as a medical condition (he can't run & has all these motor delays because he has autism - ummmmm no, there's NOTHING in the diagnostic criteria that mentions motor skills delay). Then the local dr who said you're ankle ain't broke bc you can walk on it. Hello?!!?? Did your stoopid ass look at the X-rays I just gave you that showed 2 broken bones, from the experts in Colorado who see broken bones on the slopes all the time?
Oops. I kinda almost got started.

I know, is it just me or did February 1 sneak up on you all? I realized yesterday that I have way too many coupons to spend by Monday. Hopefully I can get some alone time to do some serious shopping. Taking the kids along is for the birds.

So, I answered a part-time job posting on Craigslist. It was to help a senior house-bound woman with a personal injury lawsuit. I spoke to her and she told me her story and I really sympathized with her. She had a bad slip & fall that shouldn't have happened and she would probably never get out of bed again. Anyways, she hired me for the paralegal-type job (I guess she couldn't afford to pay attorney's fees) last Sunday and I told her I wouldn't be able to start until Wednesday and that I would call her in the morning to set a time. Anyways, called her Wednesday and she told me that she had hired someone else and that he had been working with her since Monday

. So i was pissed and told her good luck. Well, she called me on Thursday afternoon and told me that she fired the guy and wanted me to start working with her. I told her thanks but no thanks. From the time I spoke with her until now, she has called me 12 times. Left 9 messages that are virtually incoherent and almost threatening. She keeps saying, "I don't understand you people" and "Why won't you answer your phone?"
