If you stay in NC long enough (from what I hear), you'll get to experience the Publix phenomena for yourself. All the HT'ers in Charlotte can't wait! I read on HCW that they are building a Publix in Rock Hill, SC. . . just across the boarder of NC and Charlotte.

I think Tones makes it. I've never tried it, but have seen it in my DIL's cupboard... she's into the fancy/dancy cake making thing. Actually that works out pretty well for me because I cleaned out a BUNCH of cupboards and sent all my wedding cake pans, old tupperware, corningware, etc (basically anything she'd take, I sent) to her. I'm still working on the 4 liters of vanilla we brought home from Mexico 3 years ago; probably will still be using it for another 20 years at the rate I'm using it now. Uuuuufffaaaa...

I hate buying vanilla. We seem to go through it at light-speed because dh makes homemade ice cream a LOT in the summertime (ummmmm yeah that's SO not gonna work with the diet this year ) and then with the baking and stuff. I like to make stuff from scratch. And try new stuff. For the ice cream we've found that the .98 stuff from WM makes a mean batch of it....for whatever reason I like to buy pure for other stuff but for that it actually works good.

I've never really had a problem with the color of the vanilla I suppose if you were making white-white anything but I'm usually one to not care and/or like a bit of color.

i have found some tail, sans ice, works even better for warming up.

You can make your own vanilla, you know. All you need is vanilla beans and either vodka or rum. Lots of recipes on the Internet. You just put the slit bean into the alcohol and let it sit for a few weeks. Very easy!

Thank you! You know I realized 2 things through this 13 month divorce... 1) who your TRUE friends are and 2) you are stronger than you think you are. I should have left YEARS ago I was so unhappy but I stayed for the kids and the fact that I didnt think I could do it on my own. But you know what.. I am... and I am doing good! I am only 35, my WHOLE life is still ahead of me.. and I have 4 great kids by my side too! Now looking foward to leaving in 13 days with the BF to Phoenix!!!

ank, dh has a french press we bought at Target years ago. It's a glass one made by Bodum.

I have this french press...Although I didn't pay that much money for it. Must have gotten it on a good deal. Anyway, works great and keeps the coffee hot for at least a little while. Definitely long enough to have a couple of cups.

I am having pain in my right breast since yesterday evening, it is not shooting or radiating pain, but it is nagging and constantly feeling the heaviness of that right breast. Got an appointment with the ob/gyn this afternoon, went in and saw her. After breast examination on both sides, she told me i am having cyst under the nipple, in a 90 degree angle.. also resembling the breast tissue.. she is unsure and told me not to worry, may not be serious..
She asked me if i have any question, i asked her if it is cancer, to which she said she don't think it is, but cannot tell for sure what it is, would be calling me with the results...
I was turbulent and cried there itself, cannot contain myself.. she also gave me script for bilateral mamogram and unilateral ultrasound. I am devastated and depressed. I am not sure how to react to it, except tearing all along...
Got an appointment for wednesday afternoon.. i am worried. I am an extreme pessimist and all those thoughts are scary. Have to divert..
will go pick up my son..

Hi all, just popping in to say Hi. Been thinking about you all. Spent the weekend doing more painting. I swear it feels like the painting will never end. So far, I've hired painters to paint the Living Room, Foyer, Hallway, Stairwell and upstairs hallway. I've painted the breakfast nook (several times, lol), the den and downstairs bath.

Yesterday, I removed the caulking around the tub and re-did it. and painted the walls in the upstairs bath. I used SW Bagel. Not my first choice but with the old tile that was in there it was the best match and I think it looks good. I also pulled out the old recessed medicine cabinet with the tri fold mirrored doors that looked like crap and now I have a hole in my wall. Gotta patch that up and put a mirror up soon, lol.

Next will be on to the Master BR and I'm torn between two colors.

No shopping for me this weekend except a quick trip to Publix. Lots of good deals there.
If anyone has a Harris Teeter near, I have been find Vitamin Water tearpads at the gas station for .75 any size. Makes them free anytime at Teeter. q's dont expire until the end of April so plenty of time to stock up.

I hope I'm not missing too much at Target. I swear, one day soon I'm going to get back. I found the garnier peelies while I was in there getting meds...but haven't been back to use them

Anyone try the Chocolate flavor of Food Should Taste Good chips? They are really good! A little bit of chocolate, vanilla and sea salt and crunch. No one here likes any of these chips, so they are always all MINE!

I've been home for 17 mos now. I've always had a job since I was 13 and I am 39. I am still adjusting. J and I agree that it is important for me to stay home with monkey boy. Today is a day that I'd rather be working. JJ has done nothing but fuss and scream. He's starting the terrible 2s early.

When Mini Thrift was little I worked nights and weekends so I could stay home with her during the day and family would watch her when I was at work. She started daycare at 3 years old as I had to switch to a full time position during the day.

I do miss working and using my brain and the adult interaction. If I went back to work it would be something part time during the evenings/weekend...but that would mean my shopping time would be compromised.

I think that may have been my post when I was telling what my mother had told me. And here I am now telling my daughter not to go back to work.

It's a struggle in this economy I know. I hope I didn't make you feel bad with my post, it wasn't intended. I worked when mine were young. I kept 2 kids (friends kids) and it brought in extra income, but I must say it was NOT easy having mine and 2 others. Then, when they started pre-school, I cleaned houses. That way I could just work a couple of hours each day and make decent under the table money. I must say as well, that was NOT easy, or fun. When they started school full time, I went back to work outside of the home.

It would be nice if times were different and the economy were different so that parents could afford to stay home but always know this...your little one loves you and the time that you do have with her is the best time for her so don't beat yourself up

I don't have children, BUT i think it all depends on the person. sometimes the BEST motehrs in the world need a break. some moms NEED to work to be the BEST for their children for the rest of the time.... my mother, who by far is the best mother i know, didnt work while raising us, but she did go part time for a bit...probably to keep her sanity! LOL so could you do part time? just a suggestion....

On a serious note, every time my phone rings and it's the school nurse saying I have a sick/hurt kiddo, I say a little prayer that I'm lucky enough to be an at-home mom who doesn't have to worry about leaving work and finding someone else to watch my sick kiddo.

Looks like LOTS of freebies/good deals, so I am hoping and praying the icky weather holds off until at least noon - that way I can get my shopping done with only two kids in tow, and not three. And if it waited until hubby got home from work, even better, cause then I could do a second circuit.
