I came across this a few days ago and have been hooked on it ever since, not sure if anyone has heard about it but just thought I'd share.

I liked it so much I figure I should spread it around as much as I can.

Just listened to the latest episode. 25 min! Much better, but will no real action. Thank goodness for smartphones. I'm stuck in a flooding parking lot and was able to download and listen while I wait out the rain.

I'm frustrated. I can see that episode two has been released, but I can't download the mp3 from here [zombiepodcast.com] because it hasn't been posted there yet. I don't want the low-quality streamed one from this page [zombiepodcast.com]. Annoyed

I thought tonight's episode was fairly slow too, what I think will end up happening is:

I got to hurry and get caught up, I'm only on chapter 17.

Does anyone else have trouble getting the downloaded files to play on your MP3 player? I'm downloading from here: http://www.zombiepodcast.com/The_...loads.html and trying to play them on my Sansa Express (yes, I know that's an old device) but it will either not find the files at all or won't play them. I've also tried on another (cheap) player and the same thing happens. They play fine on my computer, but not on the MP3 players. What I did finally do, to get a portable version, was to burn the MP3 files to a CD and play them in my CD player that will play MP3 files. That won't be very practical as new chapters are coming out. Any suggestions (other than "buy an Ipod")?

When I was listening to it yesterday, I kept wanting to unminimize a window that had a tv show going. This podcast would translate perfectly into a tv show in my mind, lol. I kept thinking this like 7 or 8 times. I listened to Chapter 1 on the computer through the streaming, but then decided to play portal 2 with a friend. I downloaded chapter 2 to my ipod and listened to it before I went to bed. INFINITELY better listening through headphones. I actually felt more suspense and was surprised by some of the sudden noises..but that could also be because I was trying to fall asleep Stick Out Tongue...ended up listening to all of chapter 2 before I went to sleep.

Have you checked for new Sansa firmware? I use a Sansa Clip to listen and have no problems at all. I drop the files into the "podcast" folder and it works great. I hate how they label the files, though - wish they'd put the Chapter/Part number at the beginning of the file name so that scrolls first.

If you want to rock your world, get an audible trial and download Season 1 & Season 2 as your 2 free titles. http://www.amazon.com/Were-Alive-...917&sr=8-2 Rock It ends up being 2 files per season, without the commercials. Infinitely superior listening experience!

lol, some of this military stuff is amusing.
Listening to Chapter 18 today and found a military related part that kind of raised a question for me. They were talking about not being able to jump start a Humvee because they needed special cables and not having them. Having no military and minimal auto repair experience that just sounded crazy. 1st a battery is a battery (even if it's 24V like they said) and as long as the cables are long enough to reach I'd think a good quality set of standard jumper cables would work in a pinch. 2nd our brilliant government/military doesn't make a set of jumper cables standard equipment in EVERY Humvee or at the very least there's not a set or two lying around the base? Crazy

I'm not 100% positive, but I think I'm running latest firmware. The only thing I can figure is the players are too old and/or the files are too big. Maybe it's just a sign that I need a new MP3 player, been wanting one that plays video anyway. laugh out loud
I went through and changed all the file name and tag info to a better chapter/part format thinking that may be part of my problem playing the files. It didn't help, but at least I have a neater format.

It's true. It's called a "slave cable", and I believe is a NATO standard. Even our diesel pickups and forklifts have slave receptacles. The cables are also heavy, big, and hard to come by because everyone and their brother needs one but the unit only orders like three... So they disappear fast.

You have a port under the passenger's seat you plug one end into, and the other end goes in the same spot on the Humvee that needs to get jumped off (or into the slave receptacle of whatever you're trying to jump off, almost all military equipment has one). You then jump it off like a normal vehicle.

One of the heads is broken off, but you get the idea.

Drop $40 for a new Sansa. I got this one (previous model) because it has an SD card slot. If the player dies, I still have my files. Rock

Interesting. I can see how standard cables wouldn't work, but I still say it's crazy they aren't standard equipment on every vehicle, but I guess we are talking about government & military, so go figure. I'd hate to get stuck because of a dead battery and that's surely something you can't pop into the local auto parts store for.

Mine has a SD slot too, not worried about losing files, since I have them on PC and backup hard drive, but I like that it expands the capacity of my 2GB player to virtually unlimited by swapping out cards. Sansa would be my top choice, just got to find a deal on one.

Dead batteries aren't a big problem unless they've been sitting for ages. Some humvees even have solar trickle chargers on them.
