Hi, welcome back! Glad you found us over here in our dark dungeon of a new home. Big Grin

While I'm planning to deliver DS when he decides to come, all of this talk about scheduled c-sections is so tempting. I just had a talk with my principal yesterday about my maternity leave (which is really just a leave since it's ALL unpaid!). It would be so nice to know the date I'm aiming for so I could schedule accordingly. But I guess I just have to chalk this up as one of life's great (or not-so-great) mysteries and just hope it goes okay.

PS: I'm hacking in a work. OMG

Were on our way to Myrtle beach! I'm going to try to catch up on the thread using my iPhone but Internet is spotty and keeps cutting me off. Also planning on making lots of potty breaks at places that sell magazines!

As someone who has delivered both ways, trust me you don't want a csection if you have a choice!

A planned c-sect is much different then one needed after being in labor. You're not exhausted and beat up by labor to start. The atmosphere is not stressed like it is with an unplanned one. I have the most amazing pictures of John being born that the anesthesiologist took. Once he was born they asked me if I wanted to call anybody and they dialed the phone so while they were tying my tubes and stiching me up I was talking to my mom and lauren lol My pediatrician was there to look John over (I loved him! He was so good) It was like a little party. Not really but much more different then the emergency one with Lauren. They gave me a booster dose of epidural to go back to my room with so I could sleep a little bit. And then yes, like with any surgery, getting up that first time it hurts like hell, but each time you get up and walk around after, it gets better. I feel so bad when people are afraid of c-sects. There are risks, but there are risks with any birth. Oh and another good thing is your baby doesn't have the cone head lol The suckiest thing is that your stomach where the incision was never really gets flat again. Small price to pay for a healthy baby though!

So...I tripped today. The snow shovel fell in front of the doorway and I fell hard on my knee. The knee never swelled and I don't even have any tender spots on my knee but when I move in certain ways it kills up my thigh and down my calf muscles. Katie had to help me get my sack and shoe off. She thoguht it was hilarious of course. not that I fell but that she had to help me. How can I be so clumsy? We need to leave about 6 in the morning to go to the prison for a parole hearing for the guy we visit. I have a feeling I am going to wake up and not be able to move! Please pray that all will be well. Will be doing some furniture shopping too. No real shopping though. laugh out loud I think if we went to WM I would take the little cart though. laugh out loud

Also at T:
Aveeno bars & small lotion-

house hunting update- We picked an agent last night. He is really cool and is a friend of the family so that is a plus and he seems to really know what he is doing. We have toured two houses and they both have pros and cons. The first house has been completely remodeled and it is gorgeous! They really spent $ on it and it shows. The owners are Italian and it has arches and a gourmet kitchen and a area for a home theater in the basement. BUT the neighborhood is not as nice as the 2nd and the agent said that the other house would sell faster if we needed to sell. 2nd house is across the street from a great park!!! The problem with the inside is the person living in it has no taste and loves ugly wallpaper!!! It needs alot of cosmetic work but is the better investment. Our agent also told us what he thought our rental is worth and it is alot less that the landlord wants for it because he has so much $ invested in it already. My dh talked to my cousins husband who is a mortgage broker and got some financial limits for us and it looks like we are in good shape with the budget that we thought.
Sounds like you have some good prospects! Hope you are able to buy your dream home soon!

do you have a bru that you can get to easily?
Yes, it's right next to Target, but I think it could be quite a bit cheaper at target (primarily due to my gift cards I have).

Can you just go in and update the BRUs registry without buying anything there? Or can you update it online?

I know you cant update it yourself. So i would def try buying at targetm then taking the reg into BRU and telling them that you need to take it off because it was purchased and it didnt come off

Thanks for reminding me...I think when he gets home later tonight he's gonna get Woot

Then I'll make him do something to REALLY piss me off so you can come on down

I'm glad you have your c-sect scheduled and are comfortable with it.
I know I'm in the minority here, but after long long labor with Lauren and then finally having a c-sect and then having a planned c-sect with John (scheduled for 2 days after his due date lol) I would take a planned c-sect anyday over labor. Yeah I know there is more risk, and the pain the first day after it is killer, but you know there is an end in sight. With labor, that pain is killer too and you never know when it's going to end. John's planned c-sect was such a wonderful experience even with getting a tubal at the same time. As long as you force yourself to get up and walk after the c-sect (which I admit is very difficult) within a day or 2 you will be doing pretty good. Walk walk walk is the key to a faster recovery and feeling yourself again. (less gas pains too)

p.s. the reason Johns c-sect was scheduled for 2 days after his due date was because the other opening for surgery was halloween and I didn't want him to have a halloween birthday so I chose Nov 2nd. The dr said it was ok because I was so very late with Lauren so the odds were good I would be late with John and he was right. The other odd thing about me and being pregnant was I was never in a hurry to get the babies out. I liked having them to myself and with both of them after they were born I felt kind of lonely or I guess empty.
Ariel was the same way ^^ I remember you two talking about this once and you both were sad to have your babies out of you. I remember thinking pregnancy must be a very different thing for you two than it was for me LMAO My c/s with DS was horrible but I admit, it was better with Lainey. Still not something I'd do by choice but I'm a terrible healer.

This is kind of what I've always thought, too.

I think someone said they had asked CS at BRU and they said you would have to tell the mom to be and they would have to adjust it themselves. If I were you, I would just buy it at T, use your GCs and get a gift receipt and then give it to her. People have duplicate gifts all the time at baby showers and so I don't think its a huge deal to get both. Also, if she gets another one and has to return it, chances are there will be something she did not get (or forgot to add Embarrassment bc us preggos are VERY forgetful) and she can pick that up with the $ from the returned one.
