RETIRED: Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

They didn't say "Let us" they said "We will." I emailed the fulfillment company which notified me of the win and asked if I could please pick my own size and female. They came back the next day and said they'd checked with the sponsor and they'd said "No." That's when I came to the FF, complaining and moaning as usual, asking what I was supposed to do if they sent me men's size 18. For some very strange reason, SOME people thought it was funny. And the clown shoes story was born.

But then it got even weirder. I got an email from the actual sponsor last Thursday or Friday (doesn't time pass quickly when you're being driven insane?) telling me that they had a certain number of sandals to give away in various sizes so let them know what I wanted ASAP because it was first come, first served. I hit "Reply" so fast the breeze knocked papers off my desk. Gave them the information and like 10 seconds later I received a notice that the email hadn't gone through "for security reasons." WTH???

I tried again, same result. Tried from like three other email accounts, same result. I don't know if it was because I was sending them through the Center's server or if the problem was on their end. Finally, after about 7 tries, it wasn't bounced back. So I sent another one explaining the problem and that wasn't bounced back.

When I got home I sent yet another one and that wasn't bounced back. Of course, it's also possible that NONE of them went through and I just didn't get a message about the rejection.

May be clown shoes in my future after all. OR 10 pairs of sandals.

That is funny - where do you get the patience? try to keep out of trouble?

The truth of the matter is, if I were trying to get them for myself I probably would have given up after maybe 5 tries. But I wanted them for my niece (not the purse niece, a different one) and I was determined to get them no matter what it took. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Keep us posted. I know i get upset when I cannot win something for someone who wants or needs it.
