July 24, 2011, 3:13 am: System Notice: This thread content has been automatically archived from another thread which reached post limit, and will be preserved for reference and archival purposes. The discussion should continue in the original thread

Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Is anyone else having a problem with the mikes hard lemonade site. It has been telling me since Wed that the server is down. Tried on my notebook and said the same thing.
I just looked at the FB page, and looks like several have mentioned it on there also. MAYBE come monday morning, they will get it sorted out Smilie

Another thing in LA is that people are very conscious of standing water. If people have puddles from over watering or containers with standing water, their neighbors notify the authorities and the problem is rectified. I think that started when some plague was going around, spread by mosquitoes. West Nile virus??

More like water conservation. Ive always heard about water shortages and rationings out there. You know..... those little postcards that tell you what day you can water on??/ The ones you throw away without reading!!!! Big Grin

I'm in my airconditioned room right now, but I'll probably head to the bedroom soon.

When I went outside for a smoke before, the temperature inside and outside was about the same--low 80s.

There's a breeze, so hopefully sleeping will be good. I've had no problem the last few nights. I get sufficiently chilled, go to bed, and fall asleep before I thaw.

Actually, the reason northern CA and other states north of us hate SoCal is because we steal all their water and don't conserve enough. Yes, it's true -- people have their sprinklers going when it's raining, and they wash their driveways instead of sweeping them. Landscaping companies were notorious for doing those things, but the state nailed them for it. Now they use those gas powered air machines to clean areas and they're soooooo noisy. I don't know what happened to all the brooms ! ! ! EEK!

The main problem is that people want GRASS lawns. It's ridiculous. This climate won't support grass without extensive watering. Some people plant ivy on their lawns which doesn't require a lot of water. The problem with that is the rats sometimes move in. The smartest ones have small stones and cacti -- the small ones. When they bloom, it's gorgeous. But so few people grew up in this area, we're mostly transplants. So those people want grass because that's what they had growing up. Plus, bottom line, it's kind of hard playing catch with your children when your lawn is full of cacti. OMG
