Fall 2011 new TV shows (((new update about Awake on post 185)))

So what do you think about the new shows so far?

I like New Girl, it was a bit awkward and slow at the beginning but by the end of the show, I was hooked. There were some funny jokes and good casting. I love the Small spoiler:

Two Broke Girls
, I made the mistake of watching a short clip online about a week ago and thought it looked terrible but DH set it to tape. Turns out the short clip was the least funny line in the whole show, the rest of the show was witty and downright funny.

Unforgettable
, meh. I'll watch one more because DH wants to, but wasn't that fussed over it. There were a couple of really annoying points in the show. Huge spoiler:

Free Agents
, really liked this one. Good cast and a really good pilot. Just hope they can keep it up without it becoming tired.

The Secret Circle
. Typical trying to cash in on Twilight show, only with witches. Couldn't get through one episode.

Same thing with Ringer, had to turn it off part way through the pilot.

Some shows I'm looking forward to, haven't aired yet....

Awake (no air date at this time but the trailer is really interesting and the lead actor is one of my faves, he's British)
Grimm (trailer looks good, even though the premise sounds silly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh3rFsv_WSE it airs 10/28, date changed)
Pan Am (Like Madmen in the air?Dontknow airs 9/25)
Person of Interest (the trailer looks really good, interesting premise airs 9/21)
Prime Suspect (there's a British Show by the same name, so I guess they're doing an American version Dontknow Airs 9/22)

I'm in for one "Now hold on Mr. President!" - Sam Donaldson, and an early model of Dan Rather ... the one with ethics.

Watched Terra Nova, and I learned that bullets are totally ineffective against dinosaurs.

Makes note of same.

Wait, what about Zombie dinosaurs? Would bullets work then? Scratchchin

Was not that fussed on Pan Am or Playboy Club. Of course DH, being a guy, wants to give them another try.

Person of Interest and Prime Suspect were both really good. Set up a season pass for them.

Person of Interest is going to have some staying power if they write shows like the pilot.

They did a reboot of Doctor Who in 2005 and are on their third doctor at the moment. The show is really good and at times, it's brilliant. Of course the Christmas specials still suck. laugh out loud

The first doctor was ok but his sidekick was really good. The second doctor was the best ever, IMHO. The newest one is good (better than the first, not as good as the second) but the stories are still wonderful and well worth watching.

If you're one of the few who haven't canceled their Netflix account, they're available to watch on streaming or DVD.

Did a little further Dr Who research - yes we canceled NFLX but can get most anything from Mobilism anyway, they are not missed. Got the first issue of the latest season to peruse when given a chance .... the snippet watched just now looks promising.
Thanx.

anything new with a time travel theme? I loved Journeyman when it came out but guess nobody else did.
I was the other person watching Journeyman.

Wanted so much to like the New Girl, but it really is terrible. Zooey plays it weird just a little too much. Plus, the only good thing about the show, Damon Wayans Jr, is sticking with Happy Endings, so he wont be on the New Girl anymore.

2 Broke Girls - Watched it because I am a fan of Kat Dennings, as I'm sure many guys here are. While it is kind of rough around the edges, I thought Kat was great in it. Had soem real laughs, and I see it having great potential.

Unforgotten - Girl is kinda cute as a redhead, but the left side of her face weirds me out. Seems kind of generic "not a cop" partnering with a cop procedural. See Castle or Bones,

Person of Interest - This si the show that has the best chance of survival, i think. I really liked the premise. Only drawback I saw in the pilot, was both Emerson and Caviezel seemed to be overacting. We get that Ben Linus is playing a mysterious, rich, eccentric, genius that is the man behind the machine. We also get that Jesus is playing a tortured killing machine, that was deeply affected by 9/11 and losing th elove of his life that he is now a very cold, very quiet killing machine.

Up All Night - Garbage. Sucks that Will Arnett cant seem to get a decent sitcom on broadcast to save his life, but this thing is as bad as Running Wilde.

Free Agents - Ehhhh. This one isnt that bad. Could eb better, but I like the chemistry between the two leads.

Secret Circle - See that As Vampire Diaries light. Very much like Charmed.

A Gifted Man - Ghost Whisperer II

Missed the first episode, I'll catch it online when I get a chance. Just wondering what caliber are they using? I always figured a .50BMG would be pretty effective against dinos. Big Grin

I watched the pilot of 2 broke girls, it felt too much like watching standup, like the cast was waiting for the jokes to be laughed at, the whole just felt awkward Dontknow

I'm recording new girl but haven't watched it at all yet.

that's about it for new stuff for me, some of the new shows seem really hokey to me, I just can't take the name 'person of interest' seriously shake head

I am not liking the 2 new trainers on this season's Biggest Loser. I hope Bob's team eliminates everyone on the blue and red teams.

Homefront is showing promise. Fingers cross that it doesn't get too Jack Bauer-ish.

I liked Suits a lot too.

FTFY. I haven't watched Homeland. Might try to catch up.

Was so glad to hear Suits has been renewed (Summer 2012) as it's really good. Not your typical show about lawyers, at all.

New Girl has taken a SERIOUS step backwards since damon wayans jr left. Not only was he a great character, but the new guy is a BAD character, so it's a big swing.

I'm still hanging in there on pan am and person of interest, but they're nothing special. I'm just catching up on weekends. Gave up on Unforgettable, not that I don't think it will last I just don't like it that much.

Terra Nova, I won't miss. It's good.

We are behind on watching New Girl as DH has been working late. I gave up on Pan Am but I think DH plans to watch more.

Unforgettable, really isn't. laugh out loud

Terra Nova, DH likes it but I'm still deciding. It has potential as long as it doesn't turn into a soap opera.

BBCA has started airing the UK version of Free Agents. It's a lot raunchier than the US version but BBCA is bleeping out the good bits. Annoyed The UK version reminds me a little of Coupling.

I like Prime Suspect, they're doing a good job with the plot line. The thing that annoys me is her makeup, it's hideous and makes her look like old leather. They need to fire the makeup artist. That and the hat, lose the hat!

Person of Interest is really good, I would highly recommend it but you have to watch it from the start or you'll be lost.
