Fall 2011 new TV shows (((new update about Awake on post 185)))

So what do you think about the new shows so far?

I like New Girl, it was a bit awkward and slow at the beginning but by the end of the show, I was hooked. There were some funny jokes and good casting. I love the Small spoiler:

Two Broke Girls
, I made the mistake of watching a short clip online about a week ago and thought it looked terrible but DH set it to tape. Turns out the short clip was the least funny line in the whole show, the rest of the show was witty and downright funny.

Unforgettable
, meh. I'll watch one more because DH wants to, but wasn't that fussed over it. There were a couple of really annoying points in the show. Huge spoiler:

Free Agents
, really liked this one. Good cast and a really good pilot. Just hope they can keep it up without it becoming tired.

The Secret Circle
. Typical trying to cash in on Twilight show, only with witches. Couldn't get through one episode.

Same thing with Ringer, had to turn it off part way through the pilot.

Some shows I'm looking forward to, haven't aired yet....

Awake (no air date at this time but the trailer is really interesting and the lead actor is one of my faves, he's British)
Grimm (trailer looks good, even though the premise sounds silly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh3rFsv_WSE it airs 10/28, date changed)
Pan Am (Like Madmen in the air?Dontknow airs 9/25)
Person of Interest (the trailer looks really good, interesting premise airs 9/21)
Prime Suspect (there's a British Show by the same name, so I guess they're doing an American version Dontknow Airs 9/22)

I watched the first episode of Terra Nova. I liked the concept of them setting up a new civilization in the past, but the dinosaur chase scenes could get old fast. I'll watch a couple more, but if it's just a series about dinosaur monsters I'll end up taking a pass. I have to wonder how they'll play out the reverse Planet of the Apes thing (both of the old guys were named "Taylor"). Nova + Terra Nova....etc.

Yeah yeah, I know terra nova, new land (or something close to that.) incognitowhee
Terra Nova is going through the list of typical sci-fi TV show first season plots.LMAO I think last week's episode involved a mysterious virus that was affecting the memory and personality of those infected. Just about EVERY sci-fi TV show has this as one of the episodes in the first season!!!!! LMAOLMAO

I used to really LOVE CSI (only the original Las Vegas one--the Miami one sucks ass!Big Grin). But, I have to say, the show has really gone downhill. When Warrick left, it started to decline. Then, when Grissom left, it was a bigger decline. But, Laurence Fishbourne's character was okay.

Now, with Ted Danson and new supporting characters, it's just really boring. But, I guess after 11 yrs, you've covered all you can as far as storylines and plots.

i'm in love with Revenge, Ringer, and Prime Suspect. i plan to watch Person of Interest at some point, and i might give Terra Nova a chance, but i'm really not into sci-fi stuff.

i tried to watch New Girl and didn't get through an episode. laugh out loud

i've always loved CSI, but that love has started to dwindle in recent years. first with Warrick, then Grissom. i was happy to see Laurence Fishburne exit, and so far i'm liking Ted Danson's character. but yeah, when Marg Helgenberger leaves the show, i'm really not sure if Stokes' level of hottness is enough to keep me watching. It's hard for me to like Prime Suspect. I saw the original UK version with Helen Mirren in the lead role and there's just no way her performance can be topped, the US version doesn't even come close. If you want a treat, go watch the original. nod

Danson's character reminds me of a old sixties hippie that did LSD, one too many times. They should have left Marg in charge and brought in another level 2 investigator, preferably a younger Marg-type hottie. However, no matter how bad CSI gets, it will be 10,000x better than CSI:Miami. Big Grin

Grittier? Do you mean CSI:Miami shows more cleavage, all the actors overacts, and most of the episodes have sexy scenes thrown in for "grittiness"?LMAO

Quite a few shows have been picked up for the full season, some have been canceled and a few are teetering on the edge *cough*Pan Am*cough*. laugh out loud

Picked up for a full season:
Hart Of Dixie*
The New Girl
Person Of Interest
Revenge
Ringer*
Secret Circle*
Suburgatory
Terra Nova
Two Broke Girls
Unforgetable
Up All Night
Whitney

(*CW doesn't have anything to put in their place)

Canceled:
Charlies Angels
Free Agents
H8R
How To Be A Gentleman
Playboy Club
Is it bad that I have season passes to all of these shows except for Terra Nova and H8R? Was hoping the cancellation rounds would weed out the stuff I am on the fence about. Looks like two horrible new comedies (New Girl and Up All Night) got kept, while a good comedy (Free Agents) got canned. How TO Be A Gentleman was pretty terrible, but it had promise. The show just seemed to start gelling with teh episode they aired this past Saturday. Playboy Club should ahve been on cable. Charlies Angels was laughably bad. Not campy like the original, just bad.

As for CSI, the most fun CSI is Miami. By far.

Last year there were lots of good new shows that I liked and all but one got canceled. This season, none of the new shows looked interesting to me. I watched the first episode of Terra Nova, but haven't had a chance to watch other episodes of it. New Girl, I tried since there was nothing else on at the time and couldn't get into it. I haven't watched any of the other new shows. In fact, the ONLY network shows I currently watch are The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, Cleveland show, & Hawaii 5-0. The best shows are on cable, Sons of Anarchy, Psych, The Walking Dead, Burn Notice, Justified, and the gun shows on Outdoor channel & Sportsman channel.
