Fall 2011 new TV shows (((new update about Awake on post 185)))

So what do you think about the new shows so far?

I like New Girl, it was a bit awkward and slow at the beginning but by the end of the show, I was hooked. There were some funny jokes and good casting. I love the Small spoiler:

Two Broke Girls
, I made the mistake of watching a short clip online about a week ago and thought it looked terrible but DH set it to tape. Turns out the short clip was the least funny line in the whole show, the rest of the show was witty and downright funny.

Unforgettable
, meh. I'll watch one more because DH wants to, but wasn't that fussed over it. There were a couple of really annoying points in the show. Huge spoiler:

Free Agents
, really liked this one. Good cast and a really good pilot. Just hope they can keep it up without it becoming tired.

The Secret Circle
. Typical trying to cash in on Twilight show, only with witches. Couldn't get through one episode.

Same thing with Ringer, had to turn it off part way through the pilot.

Some shows I'm looking forward to, haven't aired yet....

Awake (no air date at this time but the trailer is really interesting and the lead actor is one of my faves, he's British)
Grimm (trailer looks good, even though the premise sounds silly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh3rFsv_WSE it airs 10/28, date changed)
Pan Am (Like Madmen in the air?Dontknow airs 9/25)
Person of Interest (the trailer looks really good, interesting premise airs 9/21)
Prime Suspect (there's a British Show by the same name, so I guess they're doing an American version Dontknow Airs 9/22)

Finally got a chance to watch the first episode of Hart of Dixie, it was pretty darn good.
Agreed. i dont know what it is about this show. Its one of those sappy shows that I love to make fun of, but it sucks you in. You can see whats going to happen from a mile away, but I cant help but root for Zoe. It doesnt hurt that she is played by Rachel Bilson who is uber cute. Only negative I have is that Nancy Travis left. I thoought hers was a great character. Now Zoe's confidant/advisor seems to be Lavon, which I dont mind either because I think Cress WIlliams is great. It's just a different dynamic.

Thanks. Of the three, Prime Suspect may be my cup of tea. Any good comedies? I just realized I've no regularly watched or DVR'ed any good comedies since a long time now. The last ones on my DVR are the Seinfeld reruns...
If you want goofy and brash, check out "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" - Thurs on FX (it's not a new show, but some of them are pretty amusing.)

It's not new, but if you hadn't seen it before, check out "Party Down" on Starz. It only lasted two seasons, which was a shame - it's still playing on Starz Comedy pretty regularly. It had Jane Lynch pre-Glee.

Yeah, I love Nancy Travis, she's a great actress and the character was really good. She jumped ship to play the wife on Last Man Standing, which sucks so bad DH and I couldn't get through an entire episode. She may wind up regretting that choice.

Watched Grimm tonight with DH. He doesn't go for that sort of show but at the end he said, 'I didn't think I would like this but have to admit, it's really good.' Faint

I watched the trailer for Once Upon A Time but it didn't look anywhere near as good as the trailer for Grimm did.
I checked them both out this weekend. Grimm sucked and I liked Once Upon a Time a lot. I'll reserve final judgment though, especially after I proclaimed New Girl to be great and then saw the biggest nosedive I'd ever seen.

I liked the first episode of Once Upon a Time a bunch. I almost liked the second episode more. I also watched and enjoyed the first episode of Grimm. While I found Once to be refreshingly original, Grimm felt like a retread of a couple other shows, mostly Buffy and Supernatural. Dont get em wrong, I enjoyed it. Who knew Ellis Grey could be such a freaky looking bad ass?
And I totally agree on the New Girl. It fell off a cliff. I suspect the cliffs name was Damon Wayans Jr. He was the best part of the pilot, and now it is just horrible. I was hoping it wouldnt eb back after the World Series.

I felt like Once Upon a Time was too obvious. All the analogies were hitting you over the head with their redundancy.

Whereas Grimm had a good story line and some funny moments. Like when he asked the 'vegan' werewolf, "Do I need to shoot him with silver bullets?" and the guy replied, "What are you, an idiot?!"

Did you know that Grimm was created by the guys who did Buffy and Angel?

I thought some of it was interesting, like the two evil queens being best friends. And obviously Snow White having a family is not part of the original story.

Grimm feels like they have a by the book cop procedural and the wrinkles are just pointless. They add nothing to the show except to maybe catch the attention of a younger crowd that might not like a classic show like Law and Order.

How could we not? They really hyped it as such. When I first saw the ads, I was surprised that I didnt see Joss's name attached. But, I did enjoy it.

Wow, that's not what I got out of it at all. I saw it as a by the book cop who suddenly has his world turned upside down by the family secret. His struggle to come to terms with this revelation and the conflict it produces while he goes after these real life evil 'fairy tale' characters will be interesting to watch.

Oh no! Is Grimm a cop show? Hide Now I'm not sure I'll try to find a way to watch it...

Not saying it had much of a chance. Since I don't have a program guide on the TV anymore, I never know what is on when, so I rarely watch anything on a schedule anymore. Sadwalk

It's not a cop show, not that sort of cop show anyway. You can watch the pilot legally here.

It was fairly decent IMO.

And for a programming guide for TV for free try tvguide.com
