Sorry - Long Beach Island. I just go over that bridge to LBI and there is the ocean and the bay. The island is 18 miles long. The bridge enters right in the middle. When you go right, that is the path we go fishing in the bayside. At some spots near the end by the channel the island is only one block wide on either side. Some spots are 3 blocks wide or more on either side. The bay and the ocean can meet each other and there go the road, people and houses. Did that in the early 60's. There are million dollar homes there now. Took away into the ocean all the little bungaloes and even hotels. 18 miles of beautiful beaches. Today, I also got gas. (car gas, not other gas). Lines were outrageous - everyone went to the 1st station off the bridge, all packed up with bikes and boats going home. Had to wait in line for about 45 minutes. Don't know what to expect, really.

It sounds like you are as prepared as you can be, good going! Being from Houston, I've dealt with hurricanes all my life but only went through one that hit directly. It was no fun, my husband worked real late the night it came in and I had two babies, I was watching the exorcist while waiting for him to come home (bad idea). The thing about hurricanes is that they go on and on! The trees bent one way for hours and then the eye passed and it was calm and then they bent the other way for hours. Crazy stuff. Had no water or electricity afterwards and stayed with in-laws for a few days, but we made it with minor damage. Our warehouse was hit by a tornado but missed our unit. Anyway, my thoughts and prayers are with you, maybe it will change course and weaken. But you'll get through it and have a story to tell! It truly is an experience.

Wow! Sounds crazy, just stay as safe as you can -like someone else mentioned, be packed with essentials and ready to go if you have to evacuate. If you take any meds, make sure you take them with you as well. I worked for an insurance company that has peoples medicine insurance. LOTS of people would not take them with. They do have allowances for things like that so you can go to a pharmacy and get them, but not if no power and they are not open Smilie

Last ditch effort - help me to destress if you can - Is there any hope for me to enter Suave again? I just tried on the explorer on the little netbook and it still has all the green check marks. Firefox on desktop has checkmarks. I cannot think right now - can I clear them here at all? IE or Firefox?Confused
