Okay, time for another of my loooooooong postings.

I enter contests using 3 different emails
a. [email protected] with my real name/address/DOB/etc.
b. [email protected] with my sister's name, her DOB, my address
c. [email protected] with my sister's real name/address/DOB/etc.
d. I enter every contest using emails a and b above that has decent prizes and lots of them. No trips because the taxes would kill me, no contests with one prize at the end of 8 months, no daily entries for one tube of lipstick, you get the idea.
e. I only enter email c above for cars/motorcycles/decent money prizes because my sister has a driver's license – and I don't – and she HATES junk mail.

So, along came a contest called Show Us Your Best Look. The Grand Prize is
• Airfare and accommodations for 3 nights in LA
• A behind-the-scenes set tour of an upcoming web series production*
• $200 Kmart Back to School shopping spree
• $500 gift card for spa makeover
• One-on-one styling session with a professional

I saw the $200 Kmart Gift Card which can also be used at Sears and Lands End, PLUS, the fact that they were giving out ten $100 GCs every day. Now that might sound like a lot, but this is a Kmart, Sears and Lands End contest, so there are probably millions of people entering every day. But I figured that with 3 emails going for us, we had a chance.

Unfortunately, I found out that in order to enter for those GCs, you had to post a photo of yourself which "expresses the theme "Back to School Style" To get the Grand Prize, your photo and description would have to be judged the best, but to get the $100 GCs, your name had to be picked in a random drawing – i.e. the picture wasn't important, you just had to submit something. So I submitted an old picture of me under email a and another old picture of me under email b. (So I looked young enough to be going to school.) The problem was, I didn't dare submit an old picture of my sister under email c because if it ever got posted somewhere, she'd use the GC to hire someone to break both my legs. Therefore, SHE WAS NEVER ENTERED IN THIS CONTEST UNDER EMAIL c. I started to enter her, then realized I couldn't, so maybe her name got thrown in there without a picture and they never noticed it was missing.

I was notified a few weeks ago that I'd won one of the GCs. I didn't mention it on the FF because I never believe them until I actually receive something. I figured that the GC was more than $25, so I'd use $50 then give her the card so she could use the other $50. I had my eye on a Kodak printer because my 10 year old HP had died, and figured I'd pay whatever it ended up being over my $50. So then my sister emailed me that she'd gotten a $100 Kmart GC and I'm thinking, hmmmmm. That was the only contest I remembered entering for a Kmart GC recently, but, again, I never entered her in that. I was totally confused. I asked her to find any paperwork which showed the contest name and she emailed me today with the name of the contest in which I'd never entered her, so I was thrilled. She had $100 and I had $100 so I could buy a printer for no cost to me.

I was excited because if she got her GC, mine must be coming soon too. Sure enough, I got home today and there it was. The big envelope with the red card. But interestingly enough, there were TWO big envelopes and TWO red cards. We won THREE $100 cards between the three emails, one of which was never entered into the contest. So…….I went on line, ordered the printer plus a bunch of ink cartridges and wiped out my card and $47 plus change of the email b card. She will end up with the her $100 plus $52 and change of the email b card.

And I can stop entering all three of us in the contest that runs for another month. Icing on the cake, as it were.

Thanks, everyone, for your congratulations. I was soooooo excited -- mostly for the wins, but also because, for a change, I got to get something out of it. Normally, I give the winnings to my sister (well, except for the black mascara which she STILL doesn't know about), but this time I actually got a printer for myself. I don't have a problem giving her stuff because she really can use it and needs it, but it was fun to make out like a bandit.

So we are way over 4 hrs apart. did you see what is happening now in northern Jersey? does your news show you that - a real mess up there. I feel sorry for them.
