Emergency cell phone ban!!!!!!!!

21,793 3,419 December 13, 2011 at 09:44 AM in News (3) USA TODAY
NTSB has called for a emgergency cell phone ban in cars everywhee. No use at all. I applaud this call. There are so many idiots on the road who can't drive and talk at the same time. The worst are the textings. What we need is the cops to actually enforce the law. These things are already illegal in CA but people still do it all the time.

Because it originally did. They edited it 9 minutes ago. All the news outlets said it was an "Emergency cell phone ban" initially. I think they changed it because people were thinking it was a ban on use of cell phones during emergencies.
Crylol

That's hilarious!

I assume they don't know I'm there. I know they are there because I know how to check my mirrors, blind spots, and have a general sense of awareness on the road..

Stupid people always try to ruin it for the rest of us. This will never pass in any state.
Effectively, most of it has already been passed in many states where's it
s already illegal to talk or text. The only change this would add is to make it illegal to use a hands free device as well.

That's a shame. Let me know if you can find anyone who will actually live up to that standard.

Telepathy is too distracting while driving Nono1

I don't check out drivers? I watch the road, the cars, use my mirrors. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

First, It's illegal now but it's not really illegal. It can only be a secondary offense, meaning that you can not be pulled over for it. You have to be pulled over for another offense and the cell phone summons will be the second summons that you receive.

Second, cars come with hands free cell phones built into them. It's called OnStar. They could not enforce this ban for that reason alone. Not to mention the fact that the officers could not enforce something that they have no proof of happening.

So GM having onstar dictates what the laws will be? No. They can outlaw it and then onstar would have to shut down. That's why the car industry started making noises about the NTSB ban already.

Also, they can easily enforce it. It's called probable cause. Just like they can stop you if you are waving a gun around while leaving a site of a drive by shooting without actually seeing you shoot. I think they could stop you for texting if you are staring down at your phone while busily moving your thumbs.

Wait. They still let you do that where you live? That's something my grandpa said he used to do. I always thought he was joshing.

Crylol

OnStar has saved more lives than cell phones have taken. OnStar has recovered more stolen cars than cell phones ever possibly could dream of.

It will never happen. Even as you conveniently forget that they can't even enforce the current law, let alone an further expanded one.

Oh yeah, while we're at it, let's fark thousands of people out of jobs because we want to ban a technology like OnStar...

It's funny, I can talk on the phone, smoke a cigar, and drive my stick shift car in traffic all at the same time. And I haven't been in an accident since I was 17. Clearly something isn't wrong with me, it's something with the other farktards who can't drive.
