Emergency cell phone ban!!!!!!!!

21,793 3,419 December 13, 2011 at 09:44 AM in News (3) USA TODAY
NTSB has called for a emgergency cell phone ban in cars everywhee. No use at all. I applaud this call. There are so many idiots on the road who can't drive and talk at the same time. The worst are the textings. What we need is the cops to actually enforce the law. These things are already illegal in CA but people still do it all the time.

No police officer will pin probable cause on this. No officer will take the stand in court an answer the questions: "Are you sure the driver was using hands free talking? Could he have been talking singing along to the radio?"

Just like the law: It will never happen.
Iagree

What if the person is speaking with an OnStar rep to call 911 to report a creeper staring at them in their car, watching every move they make, beeping their horn for no reason and distracting other drivers??

They're going to subpoena my phone records for a traffic stop? Rofl2

That would easily exceed the cost of whatever ticket I'd get from it.

look, i'm actually for putting some of these bans in place, but they're totally right about hands-free: there is currently no proper enforcement mechanism for it.

your example won't work because not all the clocks will be syncing from the same source. the officer's watch or the video in his squad car might be tens of seconds or even a few minutes off the clocks the cell phone companies use. if it's a 20-second call, the chances of everything matching up enough to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt is pretty small. not to mention i doubt any municipality is going to go through the time and expense of getting the phone records subpoenaed to prosecute a <$500 ticket.

focus on things which can be at least somewhat enforced: make operating a cell phone without a hands-free device a primary offense.

Ever since Derek Jeter broke up with Minka Kelly this summer, he's apparently had a rather active love life. According to "Page Six", he's "bedding a bevy of beauties in his Trump World Tower bachelor pad,"

He doesn't, like, personally hand it to them or anything.

Instead he has a gift basket prepared for the car service he sends them home in. It usually contains autographed Jeter memorabilia, often a baseball — just a little souvenir by which they can remember the Derek Jeter Experience. The Post says they found out about it when Jeter accidentally had a two-night stand, and he sent her home with the same gift twice.
heard it on the radio this morning, farking hilarious. I wonder if ARoids is taking notes.

2 things: 1 i dont do anything illegal online, so my ISP won't need to release anything
2. Cablevision will only release info to a subpoena, not to some wannabe lawfirm/group going after copyright details.

Btw, you do realize the process it takes to get a subpoena/warrant right? Or is this similar to your understanding of OnStar?

I'm pretty sure he has nearly no understanding of that process and he'll make it up as he goes like he did with OnStar.
