Emergency cell phone ban!!!!!!!!

21,793 3,419 December 13, 2011 at 09:44 AM in News (3) USA TODAY
NTSB has called for a emgergency cell phone ban in cars everywhee. No use at all. I applaud this call. There are so many idiots on the road who can't drive and talk at the same time. The worst are the textings. What we need is the cops to actually enforce the law. These things are already illegal in CA but people still do it all the time.

And some of us have an inability to understand that he understands that it bans drivers under 18, but it will never go further than that.

See? I can play that game too.

Yup, I do. But I also don't stare at my phone when I text. I can text without looking at the keyboard. A quick glance is all I need to make sure I've entered the correct text. It's not different than picking up your phone when you receive a call.
That sounds like a load of BS to me. Plus, how many texts do you send on the average drive? How many times does a person answer a phone call? Once, maybe twice?

When people text, they send a text every minute or two. That's a hell of a lot more dangerous than answering one call. How many times are you "glancing" away from the road? And what on earth is so goddamned urgent that you have to text while you're in the car that can't wait 10 or 20 minutes?

You are talking about 2 different laws. One for novices\bus drivers and one that the NTSB is talking about

The NTSB recommendation for a law in your OP WILL NEVER HAPPEN

i prefer google chat when I'm driving. I've disabled texts on my account.

I don't text very often when I drive and I also don't do it in places like school zones.

I tend to be in contact with a few minutes an the point of my phone is instant communication. Not to inconvenience me.

It "will never happen"? Tell that to the people that it's already happened to in California.
You have a link for that? You just said yourself that it ONLY applies to drivers under 18. That's a small minority.

Please link us to where EVERY driver is under that ban, regardless of age. look around

Well let's hope you get lucky and never cause an accident. It's unfortunate that people with the same mindset as you end up hurting or killing someone before they wake up and realize it's a stupid decision, and no "instant communication" is worth the consequences.

You mean like a hands free law like they have in California already? All they have to do is take out the 18 and it's exactly what the NTSB has asked for. You might want to work on your reading comprehension or reading period.

"Q: May I use the hands-free feature while driving if my car has the feature built in?
A: No. The law prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from using any type of wireless device while driving, except in an emergency situation. "
Oh please Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) There are all types of laws that apply to minors. This is a precaution because kids are unexperienced and need to pay attention to the road......kind of like you.

I also accept the risks. And I have never had an accident since I was novice driver at 17 and that was due to inexperience in poor weather.
