Emergency cell phone ban!!!!!!!!

21,793 3,419 December 13, 2011 at 09:44 AM in News (3) USA TODAY
NTSB has called for a emgergency cell phone ban in cars everywhee. No use at all. I applaud this call. There are so many idiots on the road who can't drive and talk at the same time. The worst are the textings. What we need is the cops to actually enforce the law. These things are already illegal in CA but people still do it all the time.

also, what about talking to siri/iris? does that constitute a conversation and is therefore illegal?
You know you're forever alone when you have conversations with your phone

My son loves that Siri crap, but then again he's only 3 laugh out loud

I agree with you. I don't talk on my phone in the car, either. I don't mind the talking so much as the texting. The texting, you're looking away from the road. If you need to reach them RIGHT NOW, have them freakin' call you for pete's sake! Crazy

still, has anyone ever been caught and given a ticket for it? (as in being pulled over for that single reason)? - how enforceable is it? before you pull the person over, do you listen in to the conversation with some sort of device? wiretap his phone and match it up to the license plate and/or use GPS information to see if it's in a moving car?
The OP probably scours the highways all day and calls 911 from the car (after he pulls over and disables the engine) reporting other people talking on phones, texting, not using signal lights, passing on the right, going to slow, going to fast....laugh out loud

High Five

I refuse to answer my phone when I'm driving and return their call once I am off of the road.

I also refuse to talk someone when they are driving, and if they insist that it's ok I just hang up the phone. Not gonna contribute to their potential accident Nono2

I also accept the risks. And I have never had an accident since I was novice driver at 17 and that was due to inexperience in poor weather.
You don't have the right to accept the risks to other people.

Still not going to stop me from answering my phone or a text. I'm a safe driver. And if I do cause an accident due to my driving, being distracted or whatever, I'll own up to it. Until I've actually caused an incident due to my texting and driving, say what you want, it's not going to stop me from doing it. Nor do I particularly care about what people think about my texting and driving.

Are the touchings of cucumbers and bananas appropriate while operating moving vehicles?

So you're not gonna stop an idiotic behavior until you hurt/kill someone with that idiotic behavior?

Does that sound logical to anyone else? Crazy

Why is texting so important that it's worth the risk at all?

Bluetooth headset for phone calls + waiting for stop lights for texting practically removes all the risk, so why wouldn't you take the safer route?
