There are many theories on the causes of obesity. Some say too much fat, too many calories. Ironically, many of the modern diets have generally failed to fix the problem.
The above video is long. For people who will reply with tl;dr here is the synopsis:
Watch it if you get a chance. I really enjoyed it and found it both eye opening and informative, without needing some shock factor or sex to sell it. It follows a simple premise and makes a lot of sense.

vec cliff's notes: Sugar isn't the problem. It could be a problem if there is no physical activity.

I definitely have a problem with the Atkins diet because it eliminates carbohydrates. This is the diet for people that are:
When there is no available glucose, your body changes fats into ketone bodies, which your brain can use for energy but it isn't as nice. The two main problems with this diet are that you will easily gain the weight back if you start eating carbs/sugars because you're body will be like OMG ...WTF there's food now!!!! Store as much of it as farking possible (which stored surgar becomes fat) so incase this starvation thing happens again, we'll be ok!!! Therefore you gain the weight back.
The other thing is, is that most people don't watch what they eat other than no carbs...so they put bad fats and sterols into their body which end up lining cells and your vascular system which makes your heart work harder and if you ever fall off the diet then you suddenly gain weight and a bad vascular system. Basically...heart attack mode.
There are ways in which you can do this diet properly but it takes a lot of work that people aren't wanting to invest the time into.
The word diet drives me bonkers. It makes me want to eat like a cow.

You don't have to run or walk (if that is still a problem). Anaerobic exercises burn the calories as well and it has a lasting effect because the muscles will continue to burn calories as fuel in between workouts.
But I don't know much about computers or eletronics...
Even people who aren't trying to lose weight, instead trying to build muscle, like boxers, over do the protein in their diet because someone told them that a high protein diet will help you build muscle. Then they decide they'll fill their diet with protein shakes and substitutes and end up screwing up their collon.
I just want people to really understand the science behind what they do with their bodies. That doesn't mean everyone needs to be an organic chemist, they just need to know the basics of how things are broken down in the body and what for.

I'm fixin to get through with physical therapy and then I'll start to use the stationary bike and elliptical until I get 100 % better.
