Looking for opinions:
If you have a specific skill or trade do you feel it's okay with charging immediate family members for your labor/time. For example, if you are a mechanic, would you charge your son or daughter, father or mother for your labor? Or do you feel like since they're your family (and let's of course say for arguments sake that everyone likes each other and has a good relationship of course
) you should give your help where you're able to and leave it up to the person on the receiving end to give if they should feel inclined?

If you want a gift of love from your dad ask him for a hug.
If he didn't ask for money for his time I would MOST CERTAINLY offer something...helping him around the house, in his garden...
2. How very quid pro quo. So until or unless someone does you a favor you don't owe anyone anything. Got it.
3. No one owes you anything at this stage of your life. Especially not your parents. Grow up!
Hey Nounie!! Scampers! Rodent!! L2B!!

We just spent the evening figuring out where a wiring problem was at my FIL's - this after the electric company replaced all the meter's on the homes in our area yesterday. My FIL waited until 4:30pm today to tell me that half the power was out in his home
So my husband and I thank the man from the electric company; and say we will figure this out, as we know what has been installed recently and will start from there. It's going to be a long freaking process to go item by item, to find what "blew". We finally did figure it out; it was a switch in the kitchen.
But I'd like to know from OP, with the going rate of "Electrician's" what should we charge my FIL for this job, considering the rate they charge; and the time we consumed for this
See, it's all about what we can do for him, not what he can do for us at this point in his life; getting it yet????????????????????????????????????
Bunny you are so correct about "Turning wrenches and busting knuckles on hands covered in grease is not a gift of love, it is work." Many people just don't get it, sigh.
It's 8:40pm, my husband is finally taking a shower after getting all this done, after a day of work; and now I'll make us dinner

2. Did he have to pay for parts?
3. Could it be that he is fearful that you might take care of him when he can't care for himself and is saving to make other arrangements so that he can have peace?
I do not know you. Never had a conversation with you. Don't frequent the DS forums anymore. My perception of you is based solely on this forum. In the interest of not being banned from SD, I will keep my perception to myself.
