laugh out loud didn't realize how spoiled my oldest sister is for having househelp -- she doesn't know how to wash clothes in the washing machine. first put detergent the wrong way (on top of clothes), which is forgivable, i think this is a common error. but during the cycle, she asked when to put the fabric softener shake head
I do the same thing plus I don't use fabric softener so I don't know how either Hide. Bad thing is that I do my own laundry Teehee!

I hope the shot works. I love the urgent care by my house. We go there a lot.

Quote from CrazyCatJade :
Thanks girl. We don't get sick days at work. How much BS is that? I've been working there full time + on call 24/7 every other week for 3 years and we get no sick days. I hit 3 years on August 13th so I get 10 days of vacation time then, but yeah.

I went to an Urgent Care today because I woke up and felt like I was going to die. I STILL have a fever of 102 and I took tylenol only a little over 3 hours ago. I just got back from the urgent care and they were fabulous. They are pretty sure I have sever strep so it's now had FIVE DAYS to keep getting worse in my system. Oh joy. They gave me a shot of steroids hoping it helps open up my throat and quell the swelling and fight off anything that may be viral. They also gave me a 10 day supply of Suprax, so hopefully whatever this is starts to die off before I do!

I'm heading off to sleep some more. I'd give anything to hold the little one right now!

OTOH, if I have to stay home on Monday too I get my VS packages early!! laugh out loud
Your daughter is a cutie pie ccj!

Hi,

I hope you girls are having a good weekend. I know some of you are moms and/or have been to baby showers so maybe you can help me. For moms, what have been some of your best baby shower gifts you have received? What are good, gender neutral, and useful baby shower gifts to give to a coworker? I have some ideas, but would like to get your thoughts. Thanks.

Anyone have experience with Express men's shoes? Do they run TTS? If I knew they did, I'd use my reward on a pair of shoes for my DH. He tried on their shorts & jeans & had to go down 2 sizes. I'm kind of leery of the shoes now too. If I use a reward, can I at least make an exchange to keep it? I know I lose it for an outright return.

I plan on writing a letter to the head of the ER there. I choose this hospital over others in the area as the staff are kind, the hospital is clean and there isn't normally much of a wait. I can understand that was out of their control, but the attitude of the doctor was unacceptable. Without getting into a political debate about healthcare, I don't feel like after paying that hospital over $2,000 already this year and having insurance and actually paying my bills that the treatment I received was acceptable. I got so frustrated that I asked the lady in the triage if they had an "I pay my bills and have insurance" express lane. She told me that would be discrimination. :facepalm : The nurse then told me how many mothers bring their kids in for tylenol. TYLENOL. Because they don't want to buy it and they have to be seen in the ER for free.

I'll never go back unless I am bleeding to death. The urgent care informed me they have an EKG and all the other things necessary to stabilize someone whose heartrate is at 140. I just should have went there to begin with but figured since my heartrate was so high they would have transported me anyhow.I hate gambling on cardiac issues. The urgent care requires payment up front so there is never more than a couple people there and the staff is fabulous.

I am going to email the supervisor at the hospital. Even if they can just knock the pompous prick doctor I had down a few notches, my payment to the hospital will then be a contribution to society. (He was a young, know it all jerk who could NOT use a word with less than 8 letters.) When I told him I had a sore throat he corrected me with "pharyngitis." When I said I had sore joints he replied with "Arthralgia." I just wanted to look at him and be like, "Look asshole. I've been in the waiting room for SIX hours. I'm going to point at things and say ouch and you're supposed to nod and say OK and fix it. That is why you get paid"

Overall, I already am feeling a little better from the steroid shot. I can swallow some food and when I woke up from my nap I had a glass of chocolate milk with some fruit and it was wonderful. To be able to swallow some food and drink without feeling like I'm going to die is nice. It still hurts, but it is tolerable.

I just slept for like 3 hours! I felt a bit better when I woke up, the only bad thing is I keep getting SO sweaty and nasty while I am in bed so I have to keep changing the sheets which I hate doing :lol : It's definitely not a sound sleep as I was tossing and turning, but it gave the steroids some time to kick in. I'm normally not a medication person at all and I hate antibiotics too, but man, after 4 days of this crap getting worse something had to give, so glad I took the shot! Now I can catch up on the olympics!

It's crazy, I had a great immune system before I had her. I call DD my little germ pod. I can't resist posting this guys - this is DD on DH's lap tonight:

she has the fluffiest hair ever lol. She looks like a koosh ball! Hope your DS is feeling better and you and him stay germ free!

(If anyone quotes this please remove the photo. It won't be up past tomorrow. Thanks!)

I won a lot from Allure last year. I will post a how to for you ladies before Monday : ) I'll also try to post 10 - 15 minutes before the top of the hour as reminders. Good luck! (I still have some things from last year I haven't used yet!)
Your munchkin is adorable. I heart her fat cheeks. I have a nephew who's perfect for her. Love

You should definitely contact the hospital with your records from the UC. They'll probably still charge you, but they need to get their act together. If the UC could treat your symptoms, they could have too. Instead, you're paying them to allow you to sit in their chair for hours. I hate going to the ER. The only time we've gone in many years was when our DS was in an accident. We always go to UC instead. The wait is definitely shorter than at an ER. I'm glad your meds are helping. Hopefully, you won't need to go to the doctor again on Tuesday.

I'm glad you have some Allure tips. I got so frustrated the past 2 giveaways.

This [walmart.com] is the holy grail travel changing pad I swear by. I think Kurips bought it after I raved about it, you can check with her to see if maybe I'm just insane. It's just perfect for quick trips to the grocery store so you don't have to lug a huge bag. holds diapers (even holds 8 size 3's!) wipes, and a onesie or something small. Something I never would have bought that I got as a gift at my shower. LOVE it.

Can NOT live without the swaddleme [walmart.com]blankets. ( I always forget who recommended these to me in this forum Facepalm Thank you from the bottom of my heart though! DD is 6 months and still uses it!) We started swaddling her at night only from about 2 weeks old and she slept through the night at 6 weeks and not at 6 months, like clockwork she goes to bed around 8 and sleeps till 6 am. Without the blanket she wakes at least once. They do sell them in packs of one or two also. Check amazon for better pricing possibly.

I couldn't have lived without these [walmart.com] gowns in the beginning. DD hated getting changed and these at least made things easier. I think I had 10 so I never risked running out! laugh out loud

These cuddle buddies [target.com] are great for in the carseat. They have different colors and animals, DD has pink puppy dogs. When they are really little it keeps their hands from their faces so they can't scratch themselves and it keeps the straps from digging in to them. As they get older, they have proven to be a chew toy for the kid on car trips Yuk but they are cute and make the straps far more comfortable for the kids.

Hope these ideas help. I got all of these except the swaddle blankets at my showers and use them today still, except the gowns. She grew out of those haha. Let me know if you need more ideas. These are what I looked around and saw right away.

I'm the same as you. I don't mind if a guy smiles at me or something, but to blatantly stare at me or check me out makes me uncomfortable, so I try to not dress in a manner that elicits that. Me and you are a little similar in that aspect.

That kid has the fattest cheeks, the fluffiest hair and the biggest smile. She sticks her tongue out at everyone all the time too. She's so funny. So glad I have her, some things would be overwhelming if I didn't. Hoping she doesn't get what I have. I have a scarf tied over my face any time I deal with her now. I was worried it would scare her, she thinks it is funny laugh out loud Send your nephew over!! She like the little boys already lol.

I'm definitely going to contact the hospital. To be SO patient and nice to everyone in the waiting room and to be treated like I was pissed me off. I will definitely go to the Urgent Care from now on. Honestly, I may only go to my physician for my yearly check up. For everything else I will go there. My doc takes a week to get an appointment when I have an urgent issue! Not cool.

I'll post the allure tips I have after I feed the kiddo. She's trying to eat her toy. I wish she would eat food. She HATES rice cereal and wants nothing to do with it. She is 6 months and isn't on solids! Her doctors appointment is next Monday, hopefully the doc gives me the go ahead for some veggies or something. DD is definitely thriving just on formula. She's got to be 20 pounds already!
